I was just pondering about this…

750 MC race weekend, you get:

22 races over 2 full days, including..

50 Formula Vees

75 Stock hatches

40 Caterhams

A variety of prototype GT cars

Over 40 Sports / GT cars, including TVR’s, Lotus Elises, MG’s etc

Fiver to get in,

Free paddock and drivers who’ll chat to you about how they built their cars

Oh and Cadwell Park!!

BTCC you get:

8 races (ish)

Formula Renault (best single seaters apart from F3)… good racing

3.5 hours of touring car practice alone on Saturday, plus half hour sessions for all other support races.

A Fun Fair.

Internet cafe

2 hours for lunch

16 touring cars

20 quid to get in..

How much for the paddock??? - Meet a bunch of fellow Europeans

Oh and grid girls!!!

So what’s racing all about???

But wait, Dan, have you forgotten the ritzy, dinky, no expense spared radio you get with the programme for only a fiver?

Oh... 'ang on... that's Powertour, isn't it?

You're right - no contest! Even if I do find FVees a bit dull.

Think you should be comparing Powertour and the 750MC really - seeing as that is going to be the major national package this year

Have to agree with you though about pricing - a fiver is pretty reasonable for that little lot It's a shame that Powertour or TOCA Tour aren't a little closer to that - seeing as i'm trackside *every* weekend through the summer - it could save me a pretty packet

Craig, you could always save yourself a bundle and join me and Dan on the other side of the fence

Oh, and should we move this thread to the Touring car forum, I'm sure the reaction would be priceless

Hee hee...

Yes, the touring car forum would love this.

Just one thing - warn me before it goes, and I'll know to put on a crash-hat and flak jacket.

lol Dan!

I have to admit, I have been a touring car fan from day one but when I went to see the infamous Peter Mallet race, the day was great! Much more entertaining. Must remember to see more club racing this year - much more entertaining. Will always go and see the tourers though, regardless of their 'bad patch'.

And yes, Craig - you should don an orange suit! Only problem with that is, it gets in the way of going to the bar!

(I only came here to check a link worked okay - what have I been missing?!)

I ain't dressing like a demented council worker and going round kicking the hell out of the track...! Only kidding guys... you all do a good job. It's just not for me - i'd rather spend the day wandering round and popping to the bar as and when it suits me

Lorna - not *all* club races are great... Have you ever been to Castle Coombe ?

Would you like to borrow my crash-hat and flak jacket, Craig? I got the feeling you might need them.

I haven't been to Castle Combe. That bad eh? The only track I have been to outside of the BTCC beaten track is Mallory Park one very cold October 1997.
