There have been some great Le Mans over the las few years but which was best. I think 1998 because there were so many manufactures competing including Porsche , BMW , Mercedes and Toyota but will there be such a good line up again?

1999 cause the beemers beat up on both big money Toyota and Mercedes with thier little ole open cockpit prototypes rather than the smart money gtp cars. Especially nice to see Mercedes humbled with three aerobatic execercises.

Err.... either '89 or '71, but they don't appear to be options. '55 was a pretty good entry too.

Look at this line up. The best cars in the world and the Underdogs won and finished second. They had been beaten all year by the Mercs and yet they won the war. They even beat the favs. the Toyotas.

Sorry but the best drives that I have seen are:-
1 JJ's drive in the wet in the McLaren 10 sec a lap quicker than ANYONE else during the night. 2 Rondou's drive in his own car beating Ickx in a Porsche during the final 2 wet hours (80). 3 Phil & Don's drive in their Porsche after being stranded on the circuit for 45 minutes (79), 4 Bell & Ickx in their Porsche beating the Jags after almost all the other 935's went out in the first two hours. 5 Herbert's win in the Mazda against all odds. Overall my fav has to be the two Jag wins, seeing the mainly Brit crowd giving a standing ovation (90). The worst has to be the Laurrari / Brun / Paraja Porsche failing in the last 15 min after being in the top 5 all weekend in an unfancied car, even having the barefaced cheek to put it on pole in the first session, only beaten by a Banzi by Blundell in the second session (90).
