1930's points system
On the "least points win" system (1 point to 1st position,
2 points to 2nd poition, 3 points to 3rd position, 4 points to those that completed 75 % of the race, 5 points to those who completed 50% of the race, 6 points to those who completed 25% of the race, 7 points to those who did not complete 25% of the race, 8 points to those who did not start)m what happened to disqualified drivers? |

On no hard evidence at all, I'd say they would be treated as having non-started. In any case, this only applies to two examples: Trossi in Italy in 1938 and Mandirola in Germany in 1939.
Of these two, only Trossi took the chequered flag as Mandirola was black-flagged at half distance. In both cases, Leif Snellman has assigned them 8 points in his tables (Trossi doesn't even appear in the 1938 table as his total would be 32 - just like everyone else who didn't start any of the races.) http://www.kolumbus.fi/leif.snellman/cha8.htm http://www.kolumbus.fi/leif.snellman/cha9.htm Of course, it's by no means certain that there was a 1939 Championship at all .... http://www.forix.com/8w/ec1939.html |
