Kerry Earnhardts deal.
Kerry Earnhardt signs Busch Series deal for '02
By Tim Packman, Turner Sports Interactive November 29, 2001 3:46 PM EST (2046 GMT) NEW YORK -- What happens when a big name in NASCAR and another from the NFL join forces? A new race team is formed. Kerry Earnhardt Kerry Earnhardt, eldest son of the late Dale Earnhardt, and Terry Bradshaw, NFL hall of fame quarterback and a current broadcaster with Fox Sports, have joined existing Busch Series owner Armando Fitz to form FitzBradshaw Racing. Earnhardt will be driving the No. 8 Chevrolet for the team in 2002. Joining the team as a sponsor will be Supercuts, a national chain of hair salons. 2001 Earnhardt drove in three Busch Series events in competed in the ARCA Series where he won three races. This will be his first full-time opportunity to compete in a NASCAR series. "Racing is what I do, racing is what people in my family do," Earnhardt said. "I am grateful for the opportunity to drive the Supercuts car and fans can look for it in the winner's circle." Bradshaw, an NFL Hall-of-Famer and a four-time Super Bowl champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been looking for an opportunity to get involved with NASCAR. "I love the sport and want to be a part of it," Bradshaw said. "This opportunity is something I've sought for some time and I know that partnering with Fitz, Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Incorporated (DEI) is a perfect combination." DEI will assist with engines, aero support and engineering direction. The rest of the operation will be conducted out of the FitzBradshaw facility in North Carolina. This is great I.M.O hopfully we will have another Champion in the making. With D.E.I involved it has to be good, doesn't it? -------------------- |

It is good to see Kerry land a BGN ride. I think he definately proved himself in ARCA that he deserved a BGN ride.

I personally feel, the same about Kerry getting his ride as I did about Jr. Daddy got him there...it's up to him to prove himself.
That is why I cannot have Jr as my fav. Sure I like it when he wins---but he's not my fav YET. Kerry does deserve to get the Busch ride. It's up to him to show that he's got what it takes. Hopefully he won't try to move up to cup too fast. |

Well if Kerry was younger than Dale Jr. then I'd say he would want to do better than Jr.
Though winning 2 Busch titles back to back isn't an easy feat, maybe Kerry might make a good living racing there |

Hi BB!
I haven't really heard anything about the boys & their relationship growing up. That would be the big give away as to how he will do in trying to out-do his brother. I know that my two kids would sell their souls to out do the other one. Big time competition there. |

I'm just suspicious that since Dale Jr is quitea bit younger than Kerry, that he should get first crack at the big time, well DEI didn't come around until 1997/1998 so that ties nicely in with Jr.
I remember reading something about Kerry, or his management team being honest to admitting that 'he isn't one of the young hot shots' , true perhaps but it shouldn't stop him from trying. Jr. when he arrived was very successful, won at Texas, nearly cleaned out the month of May in 2000 with wins, I've no doubt that Jr's success would will Kerry on to have a go at Cup/Busch. (I think Kerry resembles his dad more than Jr. , esp the moustache) |

But Jr is much cuter!
I've really only seen Kerry race a few times. One he wrecked out right away, The other was the ARCA race he just won. So I really don't know his style. Is he a rough rider too? (you know I like them rough riders!) |

I've never seen him race, but even the best wreck right away, as well the nerves would have played a big part!

Yeah that race (I think it was Michigan) they made a huge deal about 3 Earnhardts racing together. A lot of press on it before the race.
Well if he turns out to be a rough rider, he'll be on my list. Out to get your nice guys! (ain't I mean?) |

I don't think they are out to get each other (unless they are in the way) They are out to win. They will do what is neccessary to win. I just like the guys who do MORE to win I have always rooted for the mean ones.
I hope that Kerry has a mean streak, like his daddy. Last edited by Roselady3; 17 Dec 2001 at 03:23. |

Kerry is the oldest of the Earnhardt children and is from Dale,Sr's first marriage. He and Dale,Jr. didn't get to know each other until Jr. was in his teens because Dale,Sr. and the first Mrs. Earnhardt didn't have a post marriage relationship. I heard that Kerry was even using his stepfather's last name instead of Earnhardt. Kerry didn't get into racing because he had a first marriage and children. When he was ready to race Dale,Sr. helped him with his late model program the way that he did the other 2 (Kelly and Dale,Jr.). I don't think that Kerry inherited the Earnhardt fire that Jr. did and Jr. grew up around the track and learned a lot about racing before ever getting into a car, but that's not to say Kerry can't be successful in racing-I just think that he won't ever be the hotshot Dale,Jr. is.

That might actually make him more eager to prove himself.
& That doesn't mean that Kerry didn't get his fathers mean genes. |

He had a bummer in that race. But he seemed to do pretty ggod during the ARCA racing. What do you think? Does he have his daddy's Mean Genes in 'em?
