Big points haul for Mclaren!
Gutsy call to put on the hards. Needed the drivers to make it work but that’s what team work is all about! |

McLaren. A superb turn around, with both cars in the top 5. Can they maintain their new found form? I hope so.

The Woking concern. Excellent development on that car.

An absolute no-brainer. Superb McLaren. Wonderful to see them back at the sharp end - let's hope they can keep up this kind of performance. They also have two drivers who can really compete if given the car to do it in.

McLaren. They've made a great leap forward, and are the fourth second-best team of the season.
I too thought they had made a mistake in putting Lando onto hards during the safety car stop. (And before that I assumed they were splitting their strategy when they put Oscar on hards.) After listening to Andreas Stella's eloquent explanation of the reasoning, I simply stand back and acknowledge they got it right. Obviously the choice did make life hard for the drivers in the first couple of laps after the restart but the guys were up to it (Lando especially). I think I'm a McLaren fan now. |

Clearly McLaren. I can only hope they are able to maintain this level for remainder of the seasons.

McLaren - performed better than anyone (including themselves) expected.
Good job from Williams (again quicker than expected), Mercedes were ok and I guess would have been happy with those finishing positions if you'd offered them before the start of the weekend. |

While I think McLaren did a great job this weekend, and I am a McLaren fan who has been suffering this year, I'd like to see some more races before I believe they have turned a corner. The car likes it cooler, and activates the tires really quickly. If they run a hot race and they end up 17th and 18th again they still have a problem.
But, for this race they had it all lined up, and the teamwork was excellent. |

Aston Martin claim they will go well in Hungary, so it will be interesting to compare them and McLaren there.

I'd expect a switch in fortunes - Aston to go better, McLaren to be worse. It'll be interesting to see where Ferrari and Mercedes slot into that equation as well (and Alpine presumably). I guess we can expect Williams to drop back as well given that their big time gains were all on the straights. It's a properly jumbled up picture behind Red Bull this season - everyone else seems to have cars that work in certain conditions/track configurations, keeps it interesting!

all the Merc customer teams seem to be enjoying a much more fruitful season then their works team counterpart! while the points dont necessarily reflect this but that the works team is now poised to throw in the towel and switch focus to next season earlier in the season then Williams does is mind boggling to me! |

I think Hungary represents Alonso's best chance at a win in 2023.
