An Idea
how do u think a series like this would go:
*Spaceframe single seater chassis but with bodywork that covers the wheels and optionally the driver *V6 turboed engines with NOS boosting allowed (maybe 1000 horsepower)must last all season *limit on downforce (no wings, diffusers) maybe only a porsche 917escque rear bodywork *A total ban on any driver aids just an idea i had at school Last edited by DanJR1; 29 Jan 2003 at 14:26. |

I don't think you can have engines with 1000bhp lasting all season - it just isn't feasible.
Take a look at the TVR Tuscans - these are probably the closest things at present to what you're proposing. |

With that level of sophistification, can't really see the idea as a national or club championship due to the costs involved!!! Interesting idea tho

u could make it a national championship but try to make it a british version of NASCAR with british brands sponsering. Could be pretty popular? Im sure costs could be controlled. If the engine wos a standardised engine but the tuning is different from engine to engine (sort of like IRL) that could cut quite a lot of the costs?

Just looking at the first bullet point:
"Spaceframe single seater chassis but with bodywork that covers the wheels and optionally the driver" Didn't Van Dieman try something a bit like that a few years ago. They had a single seater that looked like a Formula Palmer Audi car, but with a sportscar style bodywork to go over the top if needed. Does anyone know what happened to this? I think this concept formed the basis of both the octagon "FPA" style school cars and the "Formula Ireland" cars.
The original concept was for fleets of "turn key" cars that could be used in both single seater and "sports prototype" configuration, just be swapping over bodyworl sections. I've still got the original CDRom about the car somewhere, the sportscar configuration had a family resemblence to a Panoz LM07. |
