Hard one- I don't really know where to start-
Do you want contempory cloneboxes or classic proper cars?

One could argue the best road car is not the fastest, slickest, loudest, whatever but the one which is the best compromise of many attributes. The Impreza Estate which I used to own was, to my mind, a damn fine compromise vehicle. It was fast (232bhp on Power Engineering's rolling road), had outgrageous grip from a standstill (great for entering roundabouts ), sounded glorious (thanks to a Scoobysport exhaust), fairly discrete in estate form, practical (twin carrier bag hooks in the boot so your shopping didn't roll around on a spirited drive home from Tesco) and finally, they are well built, reliable and safe (ask me how I know they have pink airbags)

The only downside was fairly poor economy (25mpg)

BMW M5....and it may be on the way out but I still have a special feeling about the Lamborghini Diablo.

As for cars that I could afford to buy in less than ten years from now I'd say....BMW M3 E30, Audi A3 1.8T, Peugeot 306Xsi (or any other pug with the same size power and price).

I saw a couple of these Beasties over the weekend at Le Mans, they look very nice in the metal. Alas, one was parking up as we passed it and the other was crawling through the village inside the circuit so no judgement could be made on the quality of the engine note.

At the moment, it's the Ford Falcon Tickford TE50, but if I sat here for long enough, I'd be able to give you a list 100 cars long...

Nah, you've all got it wrong - you want a Trabant. If it breaks down on a cold day at least you can set fire to the bodywork to keep your hands warm.

Either that or an Edsel (mmmm... NICE.)
