Brands staff sacked?
According to F1Live.com, Palmer has reduced the number of staff at Brands by quite a substantial number.
http://f1.racing-live.com/en/headlin...18112836.shtml Be interesting to see whether this has a detrimental effect on the organisation and running of the circuit for us poor old club runners. |

It appears that the reduced numbers are directly related to the fact that Silverstone is not part of the new company. Seems a reasonable business decision, so don't see why it would impact the remaining circuits.
I'm very sorry for the poor souls who have lost their jobs, but continuing at £3 million losses would mean that everyone would be out. Last edited by johnw; 18 Feb 2004 at 11:25. |

He has sensibly sacked loads of the middle management and admin staff that were never needed in the first place. Octagon just enjoyed bureaucracy.

I agree that business is business and it probably needed doing, but 30% either means they had incredible wastage before or they will suffer after...... time will tell.

If a business is not running profitably or profits are not what the share holders want, then a company will normaly make cuts, the biggest outgoing is normaly wages. So the way to save the most money is to get rid of people. If they find they have shed too many positions then the remaining staff will either manage or JP will have to take a few more people on to cover.
I can't see a problem with this unless of course you are one of the people who lose their jobs. I have seen it happen in firms I have worked at countless times over the years and most of the companies have survived. |

Nope, Im not related to this at all, just MHO.
Of course its all part of running a successful company, but my point is not the layoffs as a whole as it makes good business sense, but the percentage seems quite high for a business that relies heavily on its human resources. Believe it or not, its not just the tarmac and the buildings that makes brands successful. They will survive, but will customer experience suffer? Lets wait and see, and hope it doesnt. Goodluck to all those looking for new jobs. |

I repeat the point that Silverstone is no longer part of the equation, so I imagine that the percentage loss of Braands only staff is somewhat less.
