Restrictor Question
If the Judd V10 was run as a 3 litre, would it be allowed significantly bigger restrictors than the 4l and 5l engines.
Seeing as these F1 derived engines can easily put out 600BHP+ at 3 litres, would this not be an option, at least for shorter races or qualifying. |

There are smaller restrictors for larger displacements - see the ACO regs, page 15:
Code:
> 2 valves /cyl 2 valves /cyl Rotary engines # restrictors 1 2 1 2 1 2 < 3000 cm3 47,8 34,1 49,4 35,3 52,5 37,5 3000 cm3 < disp < 3500 cm3 47,3 33,8 48,9 35,0 52,0 37,1 3500 cm3 < disp < 4000 cm3 46,8 33,4 48,4 34,5 51,4 36,7 4000 cm3 < disp < 4500 cm3 46,3 33,1 47,9 34,2 50,9 36,4 4500 cm3 < disp < 5000 cm3 45,8 32,7 47,4 33,8 50,3 35,9 5000 cm3 < disp < 5500 cm3 45,3 32,4 46,8 33,5 49,8 35,6 5500 cm3 < disp < 6000 cm3 44,8 32,0 46,3 33,1 49,2 35,1 Last edited by paul-collins; 1 Jun 2004 at 16:14. |

Do the restrictor sizes change for turbo charged motors?

Well, not really: they go to pressure control instead. There are different sizes based on 1 or 2 restrictors, and 2 or more valves per cyl. But atmo varies between 3 bar for 2L motors, and 1.5 bar for 4L motors.
In the case of the diesel, it's 3.19 bar for the 5L motor, and a larger restrictor again. Again, see page 15. |

Putting a 3l engine in similar to an f1 engine for qualifying or a sprint race would just bring lots of problems and controversy when changing back to the gv5 engine wouldnt it?
And are there not a certain number of engine changes aloud in lmes? |
