New to the forum...
Hi Everyone,
I have been checking out this forum for about a week now, and decided it was time to introduce myself. I am a 23 year old girl from southern Ontario, and am an avid Cart fan. I am a huge Michael Andretti supporter, and have been since my older brother introduced me to the sport back when I was about 12 years old. I have been fortunate enough to meet some great people thru the Cart races i have attended, and have many experiences and memories I will never ever forget. It is my career goal to work for either Cart or Molson Entertainment so that I can be a part of this great series. Hope to hear from you all soon. |

Hi there and Welcome,
I am a CART fan too, but because the television rights have changed hands before this season, it means that people with Terrestrial TV here in the UK and I guess anywhere outside the North American Continent have lost any chance to watch CART this year, instead we have to make do with the NASCAR Busch series and The Aussie V8 supercars, which have been quite entertaining. By the way, Naturally being a Brit i'm a Franchitti fan through and through but I like the boys from Brazil too! And saw was at the Rockingham 500 last year, which was a fantastic experience and I hope to be there again this year. Anyway I hope you have a great time on here and happy posting. Welcome Cart_Cutie!
I assume you attend the Molson Indy Toronto each year... If you want to be involved with the race weekend, there are many volunteer and payed positions available. The ones that are more involved with the Champ Cars and drivers are the Cart volunteers (see cart.com), however a large number of support staff are hired by the organizers (I forget the company name) for the 3 day event and from what I hear they all get very good track access as a benefit. As for a career, the organizers of Molson Undy have a very small staff that work year round, with the majority contracted out for the event. Still, if you want to get involved, there are a ton of different ways of doing so. |

Hi Jay,
I have attended the last 3 Molson Indys, and I must say, it is the weekend I look forward to the most each year. I have attended numerous Cart events in the Michigan/ Ohio/ Ontario area, and I have been fortunate enough to have amazing passes for each race, thanks to the hospitality and generousity of the great people I have met on the circuit. I have been fortunate enough to travel with both Team Kool Green and FedEx to the various races I have attended, and enjoy the behind the scenes aspect of CART even more so than the actual race. The best memory I have is at Milson Indy 2000, when I stood beside Michael Andretti for the national anthems. Just being down in pit lane so close to race time, I knew right then and there that I needed to make a career out of this sport. Since then I have been able to see just how much work and effort goes into each and every event. And although my friends are all a little curious on how I "get the hook-ups", I am a true fan and not just some groupie trying to tag a driver (although it is a pretty sweet story of scamming, conning and flirting). I currently am obtaining a diploma in sport & event marketing, which I am sure is the best first step i can take to getting a job in this field. Any information (names, companies, etc)you guys have would be truly appreciated, Thanks. |

Welcome Cart_cutie
Here's Jordi, from Catalonia, obviously a Servia fan, but also a big fan of Greg, Jacques, etc.. I'd also love to work in CART, but you have it easier than me though. Good luck! |

Welcome to our club -- sorry your driver is bolting to the Other Side, but I can sympathize as my driver(s) did the same thing last year. Bruno and Tony are my guys now.
Working for a racing team is not really glamorous; it's the same drudge work you do in any office but now you do it in a garage. I drudge in the media tower where our panic-stricken, deadline-driven incarceration at least includes free food and drink, and air conditioning, as well as a chance to hobnob with virtually everybody in the paddock without getting dirty. |
