Time to let go?
This debate was inspired by the thread in the Aussie forum. You can follow how the thread started by reading pages 29/30,
http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...161#post436161 but anyways, here is a summary of my comment for discussion. The real debate should be whether or not it is better to have all these ST cars sit in garages collecting dust or whether teams should continually try and race these cars, even if 50% of the time, they end up breaking down on the track. Which is better? Some people/fans want to remember ST as a great period in racing history when the cars were shiny, running perfectly and the crowds were huge rather than the current old/tired/unreliable racing cars they are becoming with only a handful of people showing up. Which situation would you rather see? Is it time to move on? Should organizations such as ASTEM (in Australia), Formula Saloons (UK), NTCC (Norway), etc... spend such time and money to keep these cars running???? Last edited by kmchow; 25 Nov 2002 at 06:53. |

You CAN see them again Speedy - www.formulasaloons.com - excellent series. One of the guys racing in that series recently posted here with the idea of a 'Super Touring Festival' - now that would be awesome!!

Why would you want to watch on TV ? Get yourself along to a circuit and watch them live - MUCH better!

What we need is some good planning on the calendar for next year so that the Formula Saloons don't seem to clash with absolutely everything. Once again I didn't manage to get to see them this year, but I really would love to see them racing next year!

Sadly I don't think they'd want to do that. I seem to recall they pulled out of a F3/GT tie up last year because they weren't going to get the deal they thought they should. And good for them for looking after their members like that.
