Fabulous!! Where was this shot taken? Looks like an oval. Does he have access to this car all the time? They should invite him to the next CART open test day.

Dave S should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
According to BBC:
The Italian will return to the Lausitzring on Sunday to drive a specially modified but almost identical car to the one in which he nearly died.

Also on any chance of a return:
"Motor racing will be over for me after that, even if I will always love the sport. I do not want to lose my family," he said.

Full article @
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/3014715.stm

I believe he's been testing the car somewhere in England, not sure where.

After just leaving a very ugly new thread in the gravel trap, this is just exactly what I need to remind me what is really important.

G*d bless you, Alessandro Zanardi, for being a shining light in a very sorry world.

Zanardi...

This one... some shots from the Eurospeedway... the crash in 2001 was in turn 1... it was an absolut thrilling race to see Zanardi and Kanaan starting from the back of the pack and lap for lap passing all the cars to the top... and so it's great to see him back

so long... carsten66

It's a shame he won't come back to racing, but I think we can all fully respect that decision.

Yeah, I really hoped he might come back, but getting this far is beyond my wildest expectations, so I respect the decision totally.

I'm speechless...but very happy.

P.S. He may no longer be a driver after this race guys, but he could
still be involved with CART in another capacity.

absolutely awesome and very inspirational to see.

he sure is a very strong man and my heart goes out to him and anyone that he can inspire by doing this.

I am a bit confused though , has he already driven the car ???

or is it on race day that he will drive it ?

I would like to know the date of the occasion so i can add it to the ten tenths history section

I posted that topic earlier, but I just keep coming back to that picture. I'd like to get a larger version of it to put on my wall as an inspiration. I might look into that actually...

190mph with the hand controls and not a lot of practice or racing since the accident. The guy still has it!

I believe that is just the 'warmup' for the final 13 laps he will 'race' on raceday.
