My information is that he was an actor, and an amateur racer mainly in sports cars.

Are we talking about "Raph" Vallone, who played the mafia boss in "The Italian Job" and had the Jaguar E-Types squished by the bulldozer...?
Gosh! |

Early 1949 Roberto Vallone bought from the Scuderia Ferrari the 166 Spyder Corsa # 008I, which he raced during the year in sports car events and F2 races (fenders + lights removed). In 1950 he drove a 166 Formula 2 of the 1949 F series (s/n unknown, but possibly the LWB car). It is also not known whether he was member of the SF, or privateer, entries in the first half of the year had been made by Ferrari, but this was usual for some customers as part of a "full service contract". Last entry was for July 30 at Geneva, this time for Scuderia Guastalla, but DNA. 2 or 3 of the old 1949 works F2 had been sold to Guastalla, leaving only 2 new GP49 cars for the SF, and obviously Vallone had been "sold" together with the cars. It seems that he stopped active racing at this point, as I only have him listed once at the 1953 Mille Miglia as co-driver to Michelangelo Leonardi with a 166 MM.
