My first track
hi
just thought id post a track i created in MS paint, i normally design tracks on a3 paper but without a decent scanner it is impossible to upload them, owell. I called it it The Knife Track, as i got the inspiration for the overall shape from the blade of a knife. Basically the red squares are the grandstands, the blue areas are the pit buildings and the light blue area is the paddock. The gray is tarmac runoff and the yellow is gravel. The track runs anticlockwise, heading towards the tight hairpin from the long straight, ala hermann tilke. From the hairpin you head down a long fast left hander, before coming to the first (optional) chicane. From there it is a quick burst to the second chicane, a fast entry - slow exit right hander, and then a sharp left, and then another sharp left onto a 180deg slow bend with a kink at the exit. Then down to 90deg corner before coming to another 90deg.From there it is along a small straight before coming to another kink, and then along a fast righthander before coming to the final chicane and onto the pit straight. The circuit is totally flat. The circuit would be quite boring as i did not put much effort into the design. thanks, |

Yeah, the track doesn't flow particularly well, it's very stop-start and all of the corners are very angular. If the track was oepened out more, to allow for more speed and flow, it would be better.
Welcome to tenths btw |

yeah i agree with rockmunky, the track looks nice, but its very angular, very Tilke, and that first chicane doesn't need to be there, the whole track needs a little smoothing out. Not bad for first go, my first track was drawn when i was like, 7 or something and my first track here when i was 11 was crap!

Hello. Interesting track design. I've taken the libert of doing a little edit, which I hope you don't mind. That said, I have tried to stick (more-or-less) to the original design. I thought the keyhole should be something people can see, so I've removed the chicane and replaced it with the keyhole. This has made the run down to the next corner slightly longer, and the next one after that as well. Then I loosened up the next section, to make it more curved and less jagged.
My tracks seem to have received mixed reviews in the past - so I hope you'll approve! Welcome! |

He bit the nose off of my pig's head ;-))
Anyway, welcome fellow Super-Aguri supporter! Unfortunately, I don't have the time now to edit your track at the moment, but I second my forespeakers, who said that it basically suffers from too many sharp corners with small radius. And yes, wheadon, I can see that resemblance in blot shape to the two tracks as well. |
