Canto in #34 Valvoline Commodore (at Manfeild)
Here's a snippet of a press release compliments of
http://www.nzv8s.co.nz/Press%20Releases#10022006TMC Updates on the Timaru incident for which Andrew Anderson was penalised and which severely damaged the Fords of Adam Brook and former New Zealand truck racing champion Inky Tulloch include news that Tulloch’s ribs had been cracked during the major impact but that he expects to be medically fit to race at Manfeild. Meanwhile, Anderson, who had his race licence suspended by officials as part of the penalties imposed for his part in this incident, is expected to make an announcement within the next few days regarding his Pinepac-sponsored Holden. I'm expecting that announcement to be that Dean Canto will be driving the #34 Pinepac E-Frame/Valvoline Commodore at Manfield next weekend. Should be a challenge - I doubt that he's driven there before. |

why put a guy who hasn't even been in a nzv8 or raced at manfeild in the car when a guy like wade henshaw is sitting on the sideline?
anyway wouldn't canto be busy preparing for the v8 supercars series? |

Time on any track can never be discounted. If he is competing, he's learning a bit more each time. And it is all transferrable to other racing.

So true Mike ... I think his beef is its taking a drive away from another NZ driver ....
Funny about that with all the NZ drivers coming over here to race ... seems like the shoe is on the other foot this time. Good Luck Dean and show those Kiwi's how to drive |

I also agree with Mike.
Although there is not much difference between the Falcons and Commodores (although some rabid fans may argue otherwise) almost all of Dean's racing in recent years has been in Fords. With the limits on testing here, any laps done (especially in a commodore) before the start of the V8 Supercar Championship series can only be of benefit. Good luck and I hope it turns out to be a useful exercise. PS: Can someone in NZ tell me what the situation with practice is at NZV8 rounds. The website only gives results of qualifying and races. The programme starts with Saturday's warm-up then into qualifying. What are the details regarding practice and is there a website I can get results equivalent to Natsoft or the V8 Supercar website here? Cheers |

The nzv8s are vastly different to the V8 supercars, but the rat has shown in the past the transition isnt too difficult (albeit with local knowledge on his side).
He wont be lonely though, with luke youlden and cam mclean racing along with him. Add in Thexton and charlie obrien in recent years, and the NZV8's are becoming a popular pastime for west island drivers. |

Can somebody please give me the address for the NZV8 Series, as I would like to follow it more closely. It seems like a good championship, and as there is no coverage in Australia, the website seems to be my only chance at the moment. Cheers

How about a free drive in the Valvoline Commodore for poor old Adam Brook?
