Never thought I'd say this but.....
Congrats to Mark Skaife who is doing an excellent job in commentary.
P.S. What happened to his job as ambassador to HRT? |

No surprise here. Like him or hate him, Mark Skaife has always been a good commentator when called on to do so in the past. Very professional and quite sarcastic/funny. He certainly shows no sign of bias, although there would be those (the usual) that disagree.
Seeing that he is not included in the Long distance driver line-up, his ambassador duties may include handing out posters at Bathurst. |

Let's hope Matty White's Today Tonight career keeps him away from the commentary box...

Be good if Noonz got drafted in full-time for Matt White. At least he knows what he is talking about.

I actually said to my wife yesterday during the coverage "Is that Leigh Diffey commentating?????"
Sorry Noonz, I didn't mean any offence. |

IMO great team they have their now with Crompo, MS & Larko who have top knowledge of what goes on, it's good.
also i agree that Noonan is better by a country mile then White is, leave White to concentrate on TT. never thought i'd see the day bathplug but well done and i agree. |

also Briony Ingerson is good, she does a good job for Bogpond and at Winton and here she done great in the pits. she conducts a good interview with the driver's and she seems to know what she is talking about. she isn't a bad looker either.
best commentry of a V8 meet for a while, keep this crew together, Beretta is good hosting, Crompo, MS & Noonan in the box with Larko and Briony in the pits. |

If Larko ever steps aside, and Paul Morris wants to retire from running a team, Paul could be the new pit reporter. What do you reckon, billy?
"They must have thought I was driving." Top stuff. |

The only comment I'll make on Skaife is that he needs to be clearer about who he's talking about. Referring to 2 drivers racing, then saying "He's got to put on the left" doesn't help much when both drivers would put it on the left to gain advantage.
It'll come with time I'm sure, but that's the only uppercut I've got for him. |

No problem with the commentary but I think the camera work could still use some attention. Coulthard was about to make a pass and they went to pitlane and a broken car!

They really did well this round. Replacing White with Noonan was a good call, it would be nice if it was a permenant switch, Noonan does a really good job in the box.
@ Paul Morris as a pit reporter, that would be quite entertaining actually. |

Firstly, congrats Billy for being big enough to swallow some pride...
This is undoubtedly the best commentary team ever assembled. Cromley has always been good then the addition of Larko was brilliant. Now Skaife has added another dimension and Noonz should stay to complete the team. Please say Goodbye to White! Larko and Skaife have been good mates since they raced each other in open wheelers and have a magic rapport (the magnetic cars was superb) with great humour. They are both extremely knowledgable and it comes across ... compare Larko describing technical issues to the past (especially that embarrassing watts link segment by Greg Rust at Bathurst). Also Skaife is one of the best technical drivers ever and his insights are superb, both with cars/setup and competitors. Note how alert these guys are compared to the amateurs as well ... noticing things in the background and also by watching things other than monitors (Skaife noticed the Crashney incident and several pitstops before the director picked it up). |

I agree, they've got a good team, Cromley has always been excellent, Larko is brilliant, Skaifey is improving all the time and Noonz is a massive, massive improvement over Matt White. Briony Ingerson is awesome too.

Matt White was "away on assignment". I hope someone at Seven is reading this and finds more assignments for him.
Noonz, Cromley and Skaife was a great team. More, please. Maybe keep Larko as the pit reporter, and just have Paul Morris for 'additional comments'. He can keep running the team and thinking up things like the diagonal tyre swap while adding some 'colour'. Maybe have Russell wired up to talk during the race like DJ used to do, and we'd have commentary to send the ratings up to where TC thinks they already are. Back now to reality... |
