The '86 VK Mr Moffat fenced at Bathurst in the same year was the #05 car for 1987 wasnt it, the one Gary Scott destroyed in a testing accident at Lakeside in '87...
As for a #05 Sierra... well there were 2 of them, one ex-Rouse works car that Andy Rouse himself had driven himself in Kaliber colours, and the one Brock's boys nailed together down here. The original #05 car became #105 after Mr Sheene destroyed the original #105 car at Winton in a testing accident... There was a Mobil Sierra in WA with Mike Steele at one point, and another in NZ... the NZ one was turned back into Kaliber colours from memory, and advertised in Autosport for a huge sum.... I can recall in 1991, not long before Bathurst, the Brock mob having 3 Sierras, engines, gearboxes, panels, and a shedload of spares, all for sale for $220k. It would have been my first purchase after a lotto win...except the win never came |

The ex-Rouse car was the Silverstone TT winner, and the other one was a car run by Rouse for Robb Gravett in the 1988 BTCC. I've got a pic somewhere of Brock standing next to this car upon its arrival in Australia. Was the 105 car actually written off, or was it rebuilt to emerge as Tony Noske's Brock-built Sierra?
The Aussie-built 05 car's shell was by Dencar, wasn't it? |

There was a 4th Brock Sierra, the reshelled Miedecke one, that Mad Andy decided to take rallying, and promptly smashed to smitheroons.... |

Was not the ex Rouse Seirra the one that Rouse himself put into the wall on top of the mountain in 1991(I think that was the year)

I would have hated to have been anywhere near the Lakeside paddock that day after the accident. Gary Scott's father Glynn was killed at Lakeside while Gary and his younger brother Tony were still both young children in a particularly nasty accident.

One 1987 Bathurst book says one thing, the other another. Peter A., the former owner of the (1987 Bathurst winning) #10 Mobil VL states that HDT Chassis #14 was the Brock/Moffat 05 VK, and that this car was converted to become the 3rd Mobil VL; used at Sandown by Neil Crompton whilst the 1st VL built (Bathurst car 10) was in transit back from Spa. As of two years ago, a collector in Victoria had Chassis #14, and had plans to restore it back to VK form. Perhaps these plans are still in motion? The Chassis numbers used as per Peter are: Bathurst 87 05 car #17 Bathurst 87 10 car #16 Rothmans Monza car #15 never offically issued Bathurst T car #14 Formely VK Last edited by MHDT; 13 Jan 2005 at 11:50. |

That confuses me a bit, I always thought it was the #6 car that was converted into VL trim, considering the amount of damage to the 05 car. Not to say that didn't happen, but considering the lack of resources within the team at the time, I would have thought they would have started with the car that was still (relatively) straight?
Incidentally, does anyone know which of the HDT VKs went overseas, and which one went to John Farrell? |

MHDT,
Please send me a prv message - would like to speak about HDT and other Commodore Grp A cars - I have been on the hunt for all sorts of V8 and Supercar chassis history for quite a time and may fill some gaps and vice versa |

I thought that the 05 in car in the museum is authentic, and that it was the 25 car that went OS... Wasn't the Farrell car self-built with a turbo six or something? All I remember about that car was whatever I saw of it on an old Ch.7 telecast where it was running among the sports sedans, and while my first youthful impression was that it was an old Gp.C car, I'm sure that this wasn't the case.... but that's a long time ago, I mightn't have paid a great deal of attention, and what do I know anyway?

Henry, I don't know whether Farrell had another car or whether that car ended up as a sports sedan, but Farrell definitely had an ex-HDT Group A Commodore that he raced in ATCC rounds at Wanneroo and AIR. It ran in the 1986 HDT colourscheme, even after Farrell updated the car to HDT VL spec.

Bob Stevens was campaigning one of the 1985 HDT cars in early 1986, basically only with Mobil signage removed and Gp.A spoiler kit added.... or was it Graeme Moore? (Think it became the Strathfield car didn't it?) |

While the Warren Cullen Gp. C VK was converted to Gp. A for 1985 (unsure if this was the car that Grice fenced in practice for the 1985 Great Race or if it was the spare car), what became of the Grice/Harrington VK at the end of 1984? |

My recollection is 05 to Farrell, at that time Brockys fishing mate in WA, then on to the UK.
