I started to watch this and they announced that the fetured guest would be Chip Ganassi.

I went out and worked on cleaning the garage.

It should be an interesting show. Put Paul Tracy or Mario or Emmo or...

Yes... *cough* He was a pretty poor choice for a first guest.

I'll definitly be calling in this Friday, though, with some pro-Champcar subjects.

Great show, but to short!

There are far to many types of racing to be discussed in only 30 minutes.

But hey, its a great idea, off to a good start!

Yeah, it needs a full hour, and it should be on Monday night, not Friday.

Once it explodes you get classic NASCAR like the 1986 Darlington race..who needs to see F1,WRC,CART,F3000,V8 supercars,Trans-am,barber dodge, atlantics,(cough)Grandam, bikes, etc. Show me more 80's NASCAR!!!! Then let's have a round table forum headed up by DW....

Any word on the Speed Channel Cup? Is that still around?

I think Speed changed to Nascar qualifying tonight. It runs 8:30-10:30. Windtunnel is on at 11:30.

Lets make sure that nobody sees it unless a NA$$$$CAR tie-in can be made.

Why am I not surprised?

.... Has been pre-empted by an _extended_ edition of NASCAR: Trackside from Vegas.

I'm gonna go outside and scream for a couple hours.

Yep, just turned it on -- thinking I was late -- and HERE ARE A BUNCH OF GOOBERS TALKING ABOUT PLAYING FOOTBALL AT GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY.

I'm going to fire off an angry letter to Speed TV and then I'm going to bed.

i wondered if that was you!

That was a really poor show -- not worth staying up for at all. And Dave Deshayne is a lousy talk show host. I'm glad somebody did mention that Chip got only softballs but I'm sure Dave was being economical with the truth when he said nobody had called in to ask him tough questions. Everybody at 7th Gear called in, apparently, but they only took NA$CAR questions.

And I thought he was absolutely hostile to the guy who said they covered too much NA$CAR, so I get the impression a LOT of people called and wrote to say that!

The worst thing is I get the distinct feeling that this show is real low priority with them and will be shifted all over the schedule as "fill in" so it will never build an audience.

The host's name is actually Dave Despain, and personally I thought he did a decent job. The show is expanding to an hour in length which I think is good, because as it is Pook was only able to provide answers with a very thin brush.
And while I can understand Speed's extensive NASCAR coverage as that is probably their biggest source of income, I have to question some of it's content. That trackside roundtable thing was just a monsterous waste of airspace. Windtunnel, a show that gives the fans a voice is pushed back for a bunch of guys goofing around, that just perplexes me to no end. Personally if I were Pook I would be ****ed that I had to wait around for a bunch of good ol boys to finish jawwing.
The show is a good idea though and I'm sure it will catch on and find it's place in a solid timeslot.

Sorry I got Dave's last name wrong. I will look it up next time.

The one thing that Mr. Liberatore said over and over when asked why they had cancelled our same-day WRC coverage was that "There's no audience at that hour of the night." So my question is: "If there's no audience at that hour of the night, why are they putting Windtunnel on in a time slot they already concede draws no audience?" Both of these two statements can't be true.

Exactly Liz. And they've clearly proven with the backed-up phones lines on Wind Tunnel that there _is_ an audience at that time of the night (I had to dial 29 times to get through)! Especially the cult-like WRC audience, mostly males aged 15 to 25!

But clearly, the priority for both WRC and Wind Tunnel is somewhere below an hour-long interview with Dale Jarret's jack man about turkey hunting and restoring Studebakers.

I do have to give Darrel Waltrip a _little_ applause for talking about Wind Tunnel and WRC during that inexcusably long and boring edition of Trackside. But subtitles? Dammit, when are these hicks going to learn to speak English?! If you can't understand Derrick Ringer's instructions, there's something wrong with _you_ (there clearly is with Colin).

But I digress... With Pook, I was dissapointed with his answers, but I didn't expect much more. Officers of publicly owned companies are _always_ evasive.

Maybe he didn't say what you wanted to hear...

like "...I'm scrapping the idea of 3L V10s, and continuing the turbo V8s with only american manufacturers.", or "...there won't be any association with BE, and that we'll scrape by with the sponsors we have, along with the schedule being limited to North American/Western Hemispherical races."

unfortunately...
