Plato & Seat
From:www.autosport.com
Jason Plato has announced a link-up with Seat for this season that will see him mentor the young drivers of the manufacturer's new one-make Cupra championship - and could lead to a drive in the 2004 European Touring Car Championship. The link-up, announced at the AUTOSPORT international show today, will also see the ASCAR driver present the 'docu-soap' style programme that ITV will screen about the championship. Mark McKenna, head of Seat marketing said: "Plato is somebody who the young drivers in the championship will hopefully respect. I think it gives the championship massive credibility." Plato was enthusiastic about the chance to pass on some of his racing experience. "It's going to be a lot of fun," he said. "A smile did come across my face when I was asked to be the driver mentor. I'm sure there's a few things that I won't be teaching them." The driver who wins the championship will be given a fully funded drive with Seat UK in the 2004 ETCC. Plato will continue to run in the ASCAR championship this season, which leaves open the possibility for the Brit to join the championship winner in the ETCC. Although nothing has been signed, Plato said: "It's something I'd definitely be interested in." |

I saw the photo shoot, of that today at Autosport International, and wondered why he was there, it all makes sence.

It sure seems that the ETCC is the championship of the future. I belive that by 2004 the ETCC Will be stronger than the DTM and BTCC series. I really hope that is the end outcome as well, still we can only wait and hope.
