DancingMachine should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

heres some inside news for F1 fans..im sorry u wont here bout this on any sites but its interesting.
FIA is planning to change the 10 second stop/go penalty to a Stop/go penalty. Well, the penalty is minimised to 10 seconds and its a pretty good idea. The additional 10 sec is a real pain since the pitlane takes like 20 second itself...
I think they should make thiss decision as soon as possible.

I still think a straight forward drive through penalty would be enough (and would be safer as no personnel would be involved).

I quite like it the way it is. Seems pretty fair. Anything under 5secs is a bit too leniant.

BTW, DM: LOVE the rather over-exuberant use of capital letters in the topic heading, and then the appartent NEGLECTION of the shift key throughout your post!! Fantastic!!

I think the current ten second stop go is far too harsh. It ends up being a 30 or 35 second penalty. Perhaps a five second stop go, but no less.

I would much rather see a drive-through instead of the current 10 sec Stop-Go Penalty! The FIA should also be a bit more leniant on the Current Over-Take under yellow flag laws. If a driver makes the mistake of overtaking under a yellow but then corrects himself I beleive that there should be no penalty. In the extreme cases of Monsoon weather such as in Kuala Lumpur it is hard enough for the drivers just to see the road let alone a few flags being waved here and there...

Great idea SH0077.Shurely there's a better penalty system for passing under the yellow flag .Even the best of drivers can make a mistake not seeing the flags.

Bit of a dangerous precident from my point of view. As someone who might be trackside causing the yellows to be shown, I'm not really in favour of any relaxation.

thanks marshal. thats why i said FIA plans to change the 10 sec stop/go to just stop/go and not a drive through. well i hope they commence on this from next year.

For me it is the same thing. I mean wether it is a 10 second penalty or a stop-n-go, the issue hereis if drivers deserve to be penalized with that.

I agree Marshal, passing under a yellow has the potential to be as dangerous as it gets. We just don't think it is that bad because it rarely ends in disaster. If the marshal in Melbourne had been killed while JV was accidently passing under a yellow, there would have been a hanging. Just because it is an honest mistake, does'nt mean it's not dangerous.

That said, I think the punishment should fit the crime. A drive-through for some things like a "slightly rolled over the line on the grid" (mechanical difficulty), to passing under a yellow or peeding in pit lane - 20 seconds. It also should be relative to the curcuit, some have longer pitlanes than others.

I like that idea Wrex, a sliding scare of penalties would seem to be much more appropriate. it can't be right that rolling forward at the start carries the same punishment as overtaking under yellows.
