I have an idea for the driver moves for DTM . Either Tom Blomqvist and Maxime Martin or both of the driver left DTM to focus on WEC GTE Pro program or even IMSA. However , I have an idea who will replace them. One of them are Joel Eriksson. https://www.autosport.com/f3/news/13...r-bmw-dtm-seat https://www.motorsport.com/dtm/news/...th-bmw-982153/ |

What Cinghio asked, do we know if Mercedes is going to loan prototypes to privateers from 2019?

I don't think that Mercedes is going to stay in privateers' hands especially given the fact that it would need Mercedes involvement to build a new car for 2019. Intrestingly, I read an article on Motorsport Total that the new direction for DTM seems interesting and people at Mercedes regret the decision to withdraw from DTM.

Italiaracing reports that Kubica could drive a Mercedes in DTM after failing to secure the Williams F1 seat. I'm still thinking that we'll see Mercedes in DTM in 2018...
Maybe some team will do like M-Sport in WRC with Ford... Inviato dal mio HUAWEI TAG-L01 utilizzando Tapatalk |

Well, yet another Merc-suportred driver is not able to find a foothold, not mentioning a career, in F1. And were there any rumours, that at least one Merc is going to be at GT500 in 2019 with a customer team? Maybe it's time for them to put a reverse over their strange decision to withdraw?

Has Maxime Martin left the BMW fold? Big news if so. Wonder what he does next.

He will not. He left BMW which means he won't be with them in DTM or in GT. Probably he'll switch to another manufacturer. However a very surprising move, I didn't think he had a reason to part ways with BMW.

Interesting. Honestly it's sad to see him go. He may not have been very spectacular but very solid and finished every season in Top 10 scoring podiums and three wins. A good career and we can only think what could be more from him. For a moment I hoped that a move to Audi (and staying in DTM) is possible but it's definitely not the case.

Oh yes! Max was spectacular in GT racing before he went to DTM. It appears that this will continue with Aston Martin. His exploits in the Z4 at the Nordschleife were utterly epic.

BMW have confirmed their squads for 2018:
RMG - Wittmann, Glock, Farfus RBM - Spengler, Eriksson, Eng So no Martin (what we already know) and also no Blomqvist. A shame to see them both go. Tom had a very poor 2017 but in 15 and 16 he showed his potential. |
