I could be wrong, but I can only see holden supporting T8 at the expense of other holden teams. Some holden teams should be wisely and nervously looking over their shoulders methinks.

Slow news day I think.......Holden couldnt justify funding another team at the expense of existing agreements....thier financial situation is just as poor as Fords, and its not like having 888 on board is going to sell any more cars.
CL to stay put, possibly move at the end of 09 to another Ford team if 888 change their plans. I'd say by then his value would be downgraded as JW and Frosty further increase their worth in the series. Wait for similar stories that are being written about Skaife to be written about Lowndes, it would be a shame but thats what happens. |

I think ford should spend their money and hand it out among the ford teams like holden does, well i can see holden winning everything again and the ford teams will be conplaining like they did the last time holden won everything.

like Mick slow news day, of coarse you are never going to say never but nowhere does it say "we are considering it" so until that happens i will just wait and see.
i would welcome then with open arms, would love Whinky back and CL but i think if 888 do come i have a feeling it would be without Lowndes. Last edited by Pro Racer; 4 Jul 2008 at 02:46. |

Most of the headlines were about Dick & DJR, maybe just trying to get some spotlight as well.

Just how many times has Dick Johnson over the years played the 'I'll shift to Holden' card. So Roland Dane is saying it now. So what? Ford just called their bluff and said they no longer care, do what you like.
The bigger drama for Craig Lowndes is how will he cope being somebody else's number 2 driver and does shifting to another, presumably smaller team (it won't be FPR they will be quite happy with their two drivers) to become team leader again hold more appeal than staying with a top team? Does he have enough self-belief that he can re-assert himself and claw back next season to be able to outrace Wincup more regularly. Because if he can do that, he's a championship front-runner again and the point becomes moot. |

who cares which manufacturer has made what, as Roland said in the interview panel on 7 yesterday, and noted above, they are an engineered chassis, with sheet metal over the top, which could look like a Falcon, a Camry, a short wheelbase VE, or a goggomobile. Why do we still have to go through a "homologation" process for a chassis that has no similarities with the road going version? |

The imagination runs wild.......
Presumably, with all this carry on now revealing a little bit more of the rulebook, a little massaging of same rulebook could include any 5 litre sedan that is sold in 25,000 or more per year.
In theory, you could include a whole group of cars with varying under 5 litre engines under one banner, which means you could then take a generic chassis (which is what Dane is suggesting the FG is), add a set of panels that resemble a 5 series BMW or E class merc (if they racked up the required numbers) and then any team could run them if they liked. The only thing they'd need to do is a similar set of tunnel/straight line tests as have been done with the VE/FG. I'd been joking earlier when I suggested the Camry/Maxima/Legend setup, but now I wonder if somebody might actually be thinking of doing it. Madness in some respects, genius in others. All they need to do is convince the black wiggle it would enable them to do a flyaway race at the Norisring..... |
