I believe that Hakkinen is well and truly out of the championship. So why is'nt McRon giving his full support to DC in this time of crisis?

Dc does not have what it takes to win the WDC..Driving a McLaren,Ferrari,Jaguar, it's just not in the cards..

DC now stands S.F.A chance of winning the title, so whats the point of RD coming out supporting him? It's over people.

Firstly, DC has never been able to sustain a season long challenge, as he ain't no Mika. Although he has been let down by unreliability in the past few races, plus that very stupid mistake in Britain, TGF has basically won the title because he is faster (and some would say in the better car this year.) 37 points down with 5 races to go - unless TGF breaks his leg again, DC has no hope. It will take one of those miracles.

Secondly, Mika is the number one at McLaren, no matter what DC says. So RD was always going to let Mika race for the title as long as it was mathematically possible. It only became impossible a round or two ago, and at that stage DC stood no chance either.

Time of crisis? McLaren have been off the pace all year. I'm surprised DC lasted as long as he did. Mika has had terrible unreliability and luck so the McLaren effort for this season can be labelled one thing:

It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the year. Will Mikka retire? If he does, then McRon really doesn't have too many options other than to keep DC at McLaren for the sake of continuity. It poses the question 'if Mikka retires. who will McRon get in to replace him as No1?'

i wouldn't put coulthard out of it yet. if we look at what happened to shcuey last year with that big ugly string of non-finishes, then this could be the start of something.

you have to wonder though if the powers that be would let the championship be decided by mid september?

It was over at Melbourne. Coulthard has never had the consistency to challenge for the WDC. He's never had the talent to win it either.

Actually, if I was a betting man, I would say it will be between JPM and Ralf with Ferrari and McLaren fighting for the other positions. McLaren have clearly fallen down the mountain, and Ferrari can't stay at the top forever, and considering the progress Williams-BMW have made in the last 2 years, they could very well dominate next year.

If Mika retires at the end of the season maybe Heinz into McLaren for a season? If not, Heidfeld or Wurzbut then McLaren are really stuck becuase they have no-one to challenge for the championship, even if they have DC.

And i reckon Michael could break his leg again and DC still wouldn't win the championship.
