Very sad news. Peter was (in no particular order) a great racer, a great engineer and an absolute gentleman.
He was someone who was racing when I first started spectating and was always very approachable in the paddock. Like many other races I used his expertise to set-up my Mini Se7en engine on the rolling road at Marshalls in Cambridge and if he was ever at any of the few meetings I competed at, would always come for a quick chat.
An absolute Legend in the Mini & National Racing scene.
RIP Peter...(Another one of the good guys taken from us).

Yes , he was a great guy .
I remember him at Marshalls rolling road at Cambridge in the 80s , and I believe he then went to another garage ,or two, to carry on his tuning .

RIP Peter .

Legend. I remember him giving Doug Niven’s V8 ‘beetle’ a close race at ingliston in the early 80s.

Raced against him many times in the mid 70s. We were always close in lap times and race times though I should have been well ahead being in a 2 litre Escort!

RIP Peter.

This is terrible news.

What a sad day - Peter helped me so much during my own racing career. He was a brilliant racer, and a really kind person.

My very deep condolences to June and to Peter's children.

We will certainly never see the like of Peter Baldwin again.

In tears.

Great post and tribute to a highly regarded guy of the UK club scene.

I recall Peters black shell sponsored and latterly orange special saloon Mimi which was always a contender in special salooms and GTs!

I often wondered how he would have fared if he had got himself into a Group 1 or Group A car. Pretty strongly I reckon!

R.I.P.

Oh no, really sad to here this news about Peter & also Neil Brown ..... two great competitors & really nice guys from the days when U2TC was a great European series to be a part of.

Peter was an absolute Mini god & such a nice guy off track.

There needs to be a Peter Baldwin celebtation race organised, with as many Minis as is possible on track ?

Sad news indeed. RIP Peter.

All my sympathy to June & family.

I would think Masters will do something at Silverstone if they possibly can.
