Hypothetical F1 Nations Cup
OK, whilst such a thing is fundimentally pointless (but amusing), I've calculated an F1 Nations Cup by totalling up the total number of points and dividing it by the number of race starts. This gives the number of points an average driver from that country would score in each race. Of course, a nation with more than one driver couldn't score 10 points, and a driver winning every race hasn't happened ever.
I've also multiplied this average by 15 to see how many they would be on now in the championship. I've decided to show my working as well. I've also added some actual drivers as comparison. Wot no attachments? Oh well, here's an imageshack link. [img=http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/7442/hypotheticalf1nationscucw0.th.png] |

Your system discriminates against countries with more drivers.
The fairest system would be just to score the top driver from a country in each race. |

Why does Lewis Hamilton only get 95pts in your final table?
I don't think I understand. |

ive got some ironing that needs doing if your bored....!
what strikes me is that having a arge number of drivers from a country isnt a good thing, especially if some are back of the field as this really drags your average down |

ChampCar's Nations Cup system counts the highest-scoring car from each country, which seems like the fairest system. After China that would leave the UK on 116 (DC and Button respectively came 4th and 5th in the 2 races Lewis didn't score in). Finland and Spain are both on 103, with Finland ahead on countback. Brazil on 86, Germany on 65 (Rosberg, Ralf and now Vettel ahead of Heidfeld once each), with Poland, Italy, Austria, Australia and Japan the other scoring nations.
