Yasukawa Lands Third D&R Seat for Indy

It has been announced this morning. Roger Yasukawa will drive the third Dreyer & Reinbold car at Indy...The car does have sponsorship from a residential home developer here.

That makes 32, with Beck, Panther, Cabbie, Hemelgarn and maybe a lease for third car from Foyt to possibly run.

Tim, I don't see a third Dreyer & Reinbold car on the entry, only the cars for Fisher and Rice. Are they leasing someone elses entry?

They will run Roger in one of their "T" cars....

BTW...This is the first time that D&R will run 3 cars at Indy.

He will be sponsored by Wellman-Corbier Custom Homes

karimbo has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
This is a bad news: how many accidents is he going to cause this time...

I noted his finish last year in my column today...He moved up 12 spots during the race in a car that he spent 3-4 days driving the entire month...

How much sense is there in entering this contest as late as before the 3rd day of qualifying, when the first 22 grid spots are already taken?

the same car that Jon Herb was booted out of for not having enough speed!

although Herb was a co-owner of PDR himself back then so i guess it was an all round kind of decision

lots of sense!

you can win from any position just about, Wheldon took the victory from 16th in 05 i believe

plus, for the cost of the 2nd week programme, if you make it into the race, your gonna take some decent prize money away

Don't forget Scott Goodyear in 1992...He started last on the grid and finished 2dn in the closest finish in Indy 500 history.

In reality, the race was being scored when the green flag fell, and he was still back near the 4th turn when the flag flew and the front row began the race...He drove more than 500 miles compated to Al Unser, Jr., who started in the 4th row, IIRC...

In Robin Millers article he outlined that after the engine lease, tires bills and other associated costs it is currently very difficult to come out ahead of an Indy campaign. He believed as much as 2/3rds of the field came out even or less from last years events.

Food for thought

and Robin Miller also claimed at the start of the season that Champ Car would have 24 cars on the grid and the IRL would struggle to get 16 and would not fill 33 for Indy

don't believe everything he says

food for thought

ditto stradlin, asking Robin Miller about Indy is like asking Bin laden an unbiased opinion about GW Bush

I do not remember that, maybe you have the article as opposed to throwing around unsubstantiated comments ?

Absolutely, wouldnt believe everything anyone says. However Robin Miller is the most objective Open Wheel reporter going around at the moment so I think you will find some value in what he is saying

Any reason why you are so conclusive he is wrong on this matter, or is this your own bias coming into play not Robins ?

The prize money has not kept pace with the cost of competing. Everyone knows that. These days you'd be better off trying to run a clunker in nascar and qualifying at the back of the grid.
