GT1 Round 8 - Circuito de Navarra - 23th/24th October
Introduction
It's not long now until the end of the first season of GT1, and it looks like Vitaphone could take the title again! Well, that's if Thomas Mutsch with the assistance of one Richard Westbrook who chased Andrea Bertolini to the line in the last race at Algarve. But watch out for Marc Hennerici as he could sneak up from third and take the championship! Can it get any closer? Sadly the track at Durban is not finished, but as a replacement, the series now heads to spain at Circuito de Navarra. This track is located in the town of Los Arcos in the province of Navarre in Northern Spain and is a new build. Also two new drivers join the series; from Italy, Matteo Bobbi at Marc VDS and from the Netherlands, Duncan Huisman at Mad-Croc. It's not long now till the end! *** I for one, believe it could get closer in the championship. This is the first time I'm watching a race at Navarra, (Not in person) and I'm hoping we get two great races from this. He wasn't on the pace in Algarve... that's the only thing I can think of. They've been swapping drivers in the #6 car more often than socks.

Regardless how much ballast they give to the Maserati guys, they'll be in the top 10 or top 8, that car is fantastic, as are it's drivers. I'm rooting for Young Driver Aston to have a decent result though. They should be up there without any ballast added.

* Down to 22 cars, the Mad-Croc Corvette of Maassen/Jousse has a fuel tank problem and is not at Navarra. * Heger steps out of his Maserati, Muller and Longin in the 33, Verdonck and Pier Guidi in the 34. |

So Corvettes are pretty much out of any contention then. The remaining Phoenix has too much ballast, and Mad Croc has the slowest gentleman driver in the world...
Edwards and Herbert commentating for this round again, I'm afraid! |

Q1 halfway through. Track looks a bit... meh. Boring mickey mouse sectors and seas of asphalt run-offs.

Lamborghini has this one in the cards, they have all 4 cars in the top 7 in practice. Nuts. They have to turn this into a good points scoring race at least. Enge doesn't look to be in too bad of a shape either.

Pretty good race....
Congrats to Marc VDS and the #6 Matech car for getting their best finishes of the season thus far. I think the Hegersport cars are on the pace because they have less weight and of course with slow corners and heavy braking if you have more weight.... This is why the Vitaphone cars are struggling a bit beyond getting hit which the #2 seem to have a target on it. I don't know if Mutsch/Westbrooke used up all their sets of new tires. I think they didn't because they started pretty far back and got kicked out of Q2. Next race they start 11th with Westbrooke in the car. I think points are scored down to 10th so Vitaphone #1 are already in a points scoring position in the Top 10. Westbrooke will have to get ahead of them and gap them if they are gain any points. The Championship Race should prove very interesting since most of the Championship protagonist are starting near each other... |

Great weekend for Lambo and for Kechele/Zonta. Nice to see Ricardo do well. He has always been a class act.

Barring complete collapse, looks like Vitaphone #1 will win the Driver's Title. The Teams title is still in doubt but a major blow to Matech with spins/accidents before the driver changes. Pretty good event overall. Thanksgiving Weekend for Brazil. The final race will take us just a few weeks from Dakar and also the Dubai 24hr race for GT3 cars and the start of the 2011 season. The off-season its getting shorter and shorter all the time. |

Well done to Reiter, getting two more wins to add to Spa, fantastic to see the Murcielago get more wins. Wonderful.
