sons n fathers
Do you think drivers like steve johnson, jack perkins and other drivers are only in the series because of their famous fathers,or that they are racing in the series because they have the talent and skills and the passion as their famous fathers did and still have?.

Look at the drivers with team owning Dad's they get the best gear and still cant deliver the goods! Why?
Pressure of performing is a main factor Jnr is a great steerer of a car and has proven in many classes of racing jack shows us how good he is by a 3rd in the Delevlopment series Rick has 2 Bathurst's and a provisional Championship The lack of talent is further back with the likes of Paul Morris who basicly could not drive a greasy stick up a pigs u no what. |

A chunk of the V8 Supercar field from this year is second (or more) generation.
Russell Skaife, Harry Bargwanna (or Alf - I can never be sure, and they're twins so they're interchangable), Frank Lowndes, Jim Winterbottom, Jim Richards, Garry Dumbrell, Drew Price, Ian Luff, Graeme Whincup, Richard Davison, Kim Jones, Rocky Canto. Add the two already named and you have almost half the field. And I'm sure that a few more had racing parents that I didn't know about. Whether they are all there on merit is another question. Those that fail to peform will sooner or later be winnowed out. And can we move on from slamming Steve Johnson? He's out-performed plenty of good team-mates. Kramer |

This debate will go around and around and around. It is the old problem. Its not what you know its who in 95% of cases.

Jnr is a good steerer as are most of the sons of the guys mentioned whether they are there on merit or not judge for your self but no doubt they had help and good guidence.and as also a believer said it's not what you know it's who you know.

It's all about opportunity. To have a father involved in motorsport certainly gives a leg up to those sons who want to get into the game. There are plenty of capable steerers out there who'll never get a look in 'cause they don't have the contacts and/or the funding the sorf's have.

I think without a doubt some drivers have inhereted their fathers skills and passion for the sport, if they can prove they deserve the seat the so be it!
Im really looking foward to Jack Perkins stepping up, hes a nice kid, sponsors should enjoy his pulling power, and he can obviously drive. And as for Jr, he has proven he can drive, just a shame that the positives arent consistant, bt this could be for other reasons, who knows he could fly if behind a 888 wheel we may never know... But to reiterate what Also a Believer said, its not what you know its who you know, so these kids already have a foot in the door, im glad people like Jack have that foot in. It would be a bit harder to swallow if the field was full of sons of fathers that own teams etc, but a few is great to carry legendary names |
