The Ultima is still in some degree of engine trouble and will probably not show for round one.

The Darrian (s) - The team have built two cars - is still excluded.

The new Jag XK8 however looks fantastic (albeit this car too has had engine problems today!)

The gap at the end was just 0.156 seconds

A great 3 way battle - The much maligned (but not by me)shane lynch was fantastic

Shame we didn't have more out there but I'd reckon on nearer 20 for Snet - Including 2 more TVRs!!

Don't miss the race on Channel 4 (or read what I've written if you can't wait that long on dsc!!!)

Sounds like it was a good race from the report Ive read. What on earth Stretton and Templeton are doing so far back though I will never know, ok they are new to the championship but that Viper must be one of the fastest cars on the grid..

The Ultima passed 4 cars on the first half lap from the back of the grid having not completed a racing lap all weekend. Unfortunately it retired with oil problems on lap 2.

It was the rocker cover gasket that finally killed it - They'll be back for Snet though.

As for the Viper, its early days yet for the girls, their lap times weren't as awful as some would have you believe and they HAVE to stop for a 2 minute fuel stop which made a midfield run look like a hopeless tail ender. Not quick yet but I reckon they'll get quicker in the weeks to come - Good luck too them.

Graham- that 2 minute fuel stop poses an interesting question- is there any chance of the Viper looking competitive at all this season, even in the longer races, irrespective of who's going to be driving it?

Having read your race report, it does suggest that frankly the ladies might have been better off running a different car that doesn't carry this penalty- that fuel stop seems to have ruined a fairly solid mid-field race for them

They had a lot of trouble with the Ultima to start with they didnt get there till late Saturday night sunday morning still rebuilding the car at 8:30 got in ready for the 9 warm up then as they went down the pit lane for the 15 mins it kept cutting out, they found out it was water in the fuel. Not sure what happened in the race.

Bear in maind that at the theree longer races all of the cars will have to stop for fuel and it then becomes more evenly matched - Do I expect them to win in 2003? No but I'd put money (albeit just a little!) on a podium finish at some point.

The important thing is that the car is out there and the girls are trying hard.

I can definitely see your point about the longer races- an extra two minutes in the pits is almost impossible to recover from in a 75 minute race at Donington- it's almost an automatic 2 lap penalty, but when everyone's stopping for fuel in the longer races, and given a good reliable run, you never know....

Is the fuel stop the only penalty they've got to contend with- no extra ballast or restrictor limits compared with the GTO cars?

was a good race wasnt it? the last lap had me up in the sky though. first off the viper forcing the 22 mosler onto the grass and into second place then the corvette forcing the 33 mosler to lock up in the last chicane, no wonder it was so close, the mosler was about 6 inches from hitting the vette. what a great start to the season!
