Bathurst 1000

Has anyone realised that probably the biggest touring car event in the world is on this weekend? The Bathurst 1000 is 1000 km (roughly 620 miles) long. It is raced on th Mount Panorama circuit in New South Wales, Australia. This year 40 600hp 5.5 litre V8 monsters are racing, but the average field is around about 55. British fans should know of this event, considering that 3 BTCC drivers are competing - Yvan Muller, Andy Priaulx and John Cleland. If you can watch it, do. It will be a cracker.

Wish I could watch it, but I presume it isn't on terrestrial TV
I've no idea who is in what cars, but my vote is always going to be with JC.

Yeh I think JC will do best, most experienced I would say. I was going to get up for the Japanese GP, but F1 is a bore now, so I'm getting up to see Bathurst, on Motors TV live from 1am - 8am, I don't think it's on any other times?? Anyone know?

Channel 5 does it the Tuesday morning after the event.

I voted for JC.

Actually it's the Tuesday morning, a week after the Tuesday morning following the event.

kiwiboy - welcome to the forums, but here's some amendments to your post

Priaulx & Muller are teaming up together in the seconnd TWR Kmart Commodore. Qualified 18th. Murphy/Kelly are driving the lead team car.

Cleland is racing with youngster Tim Leahey, they qualified 17th. Team leader Brad Jones is driving the other team car with John Bowe, and has qualified 2nd. Brad Jones isn't the son of F1 champ Alan Jones though, and he's not a 5 time Australian Touring Car Champion.

Should be a good race. Mark Skaife/Jim Richards in their TWR Holden Racing Team Commodore are on pole.

Check the Aussie forum for results, more info etc...
