Donington - Friendly people, decent facilities. 2. Oulton Park - Only went once but didn't feel very welcoming. I'd go again though. 3. Britcar 24hr 4. Most Porsche series. 5. Alex Delahunty (my 9 year old son, started karting this year) 6. A circuit within, say, 50 miles of Leeds would be nice! |

Introduce stringent and publicised penalties for BTCC drivers regarding driving standards and gamesmanship. |

[QUOTE=Mark Mitchell;3168630]It's the "Off" Season for a lot of us on here, so I thought you might want to use a minute of your time answering the following......

Le Mans (Classic), second Mulsanne chicane. Always wanted to marshal at Le Mans. Always wanted to marshal on the Mulsanne straight at night. Always wanted to see a 917 racing at Le Mans and there were 3, one of which stopped at our post. Heaven! 2/. Only been to 6 circuits this year and they've all been good. ( Brands, Snett, Silverstone, Goodwood, Zolder & Le Mans) 3/. GT3/Blancpain. I just love those cars. 4/. FIA GT1. It's become a joke, especially when a support race can have better cars (Dutch Supercup) 5/. Rob Huff. 5/. An Independent Silverstone 24hrs with cars up to GT3 attracting 70 cars with 2 grids. |

Can I just add that the Knockhill marshals were great on my visit in August but had a couple of problems elsewhere!

1: Oulton park - friendly, scenic, great racing
2: Silverstone - great circuit, rubbish camping! 3: Northwest sports/saloons and world sportscar masters 4: smart cars/ speed series 5: Paul oneill 6: season has gone far too quick, I will try to pick the clubs I want to marshal for next year, rather than just everyone...there are certain clubs that have big grids and are really marshal friendly. Oh and I start racing again next year hopefully, so will probably have to cut down the marshalling a bit unfortunatley 7: best meeting of the year - silverstone classic 8: worst meeting of the year - britcar meetings, NEVER AGAIN! |

2: Worst Circuit You've Marshalled At This Year - Reasons 3: Favourite Series/Championship 4: Series You Wouldn't Miss If Wasn't Around In 2013 5: Favourite Local Driver 6: What Would You Change For 2013 Having had a much reduced season this year for various reasons, and so having selected the meeting I could do very carefully: 1. Oulton. Picturesque, exciting, still reasonably close to the action and you can marshal it properly 2. I've avoided the ones I don't like, although there are very few. 3. WEC/LMS/whatever it's called next year. Still the first tick every year. 4. National FFord. Seriously, how can you make such a pigs ear of what used to be a simple, fun and over-subscribed championship. Walter Hayes is a reminder of how it ought to be - someone from Ford ought to go and watch it. 5. Trevor Willis, British Hillclimb champion for the first time and well deserved after years of developing the new car. I could have named several of the competitors in this series but Scary Trev edges it for such a superb acheivement. 6. Move the Britcar 24hours forward a month or so in the hope of better weather and warmer nights. Although on the basis of 2012's weather it probably ought to happen in March. |

2: Worst Circuit You've Marshalled At This Year - Reasons 3: Favourite Series/Championship 4: Series You Wouldn't Miss If Wasn't Around In 2013 5: Favourite Local Driver 6: What Would You Change For 2013 1. The Nurburgring Nordschleife - 24 hours - fantastic atmosphere, MASSIVE grids, German food and beer! 2. Silverstone - desolate, posts too far from track, camp site on a hill. 3. NorthWest sports & saloons - big grids, great mix of cars in different classes. 4. Smart cars (human dice) 5. Paul O Neill 6. For every circuit to have a dedicated sign on building for marshals such as the one Knockhill uses, which you use to sit in for lunch / get changed at end of day etc. |

Typical Clerk, getting the wrong end of the stick again!
What I meant was - I would miss it. What wouldn't I miss - BTCC with it's appalling driving standards that feed through the system into other forms of racing. You try talking to the driver and he says - but I saw .................. do that move on the telly |

Oulton Park. Possibly one of the most beautiful circuits anywhere. 2. Silverstone. Sorry, nice people but some of the marshals' facilities are third world. And as for the GP camping ... 3. Gotta be Legends. 4. Formula 5000 - unless it returns to the point when all the drivers are racing, not promenading. 5. Any driver who also marshals. 6. My coat. A waterproof one would be nice. |

To all those who've mentioned BTCC as the series they could live without. May I suggest you add at least one day on the bank at a Speed Hillclimb next year? I think you'll find it the exact antithesis to everything you don't like about BTCC.

Very true, and you might also like to consider karting, with often 30 or more races in a day, you wont be hanging around!

Well...in a change what appears to be the norm...
1: Silverstone - great bunch of people, someone different to marshal with everytime, great banter! For those that have had it as their number two because of the mud/hillside campsite. Try silverstone for another meeting, the campsite isn't usually on a hill, ok some of the posts are muddy, but then the same would happen at other circuits with that amount of rain too. 2. Ok I didn't marshal anywhere else this season...! 3. Quaife Motorsport News Saloon Car Championship, Cannons Motor Spares TinTop Challenge and Quaife Intermarque League (but then they're my boys so I'm biased). A series/championship that I don't look after...the National Legends 4. I have to say BTCC as well, but then I don't marshal 5. I can't single out any of my drivers as I'm unbiased in that respect! However Lawrence Davey from the legends has had a great season. 6. Less rain, more sunshine please! |

1: Close between Donington (much laughter at times) and Mallory.
2: None! 3: MX5's 4: Intersteps 5: Nic Grindrod, always fun to watch on the Rockingham oval! 6: Actually having something more to camp on than the floor as I did at the GP... |

Agreed. Oulton wins because it's just so picturesque and exciting, but I very much enjoy Silverstone as well. Don't judge camping on the GP - the normal campsite has electricity and showers.

2: Can't really say anything for this one. I do stick to circuits I enjoy (sadly I never made it to Snett this year) so it's irrelevant really. 3: WEC - always top of my list (in whatever guise) every season. 4: FFord - such a great series in the past but now a shadow of what it used to be. And the new car's are rubbish. 5: Has to be fellow Cambridgeshire resident Huffy! 6: Fewer championships with bigger grids. |
