Very good thread. Hmm its very tight. I cant figure out which one was the best...
JPM on MS, Brazil 2001 DC on MS, France 2000 Mika on MS, Spa 2000 are the three best imho. BTW... I just think that MS on JPM Australia 2002 wasnt particularly a great overtaking manouvere. JPM made a big mistake and basically MS just eased passed him. One manouvere that probably could've been there was Raikonnen passing JV last year (I forget the GP). |

Before the page had loaded I was thinking JPM on Trulli at Imola too! That is what I voted for.
But I liked ALL of them! Even if the driver I support came off worse in some of them. But then I like motor racing first and support drivers like they are football teams second. "JPM on MS, Australia 2002" and "MS on JPM, Australia 2002". These should be considered together. As one event. two great drivers battling against each other. Hey look I liked a MS and JPM move. Excuse me for my negativity, back from the pub! Anyway, I'll get my IMO in before the thread goes pear shaped due to some pro or anti pants. Anyway to you all! |

Oh Mika on Michael rocked. But you need to consider the previous laps.
I want to vote for them all! Max take note! |

Agree there Adam, that took BALLS to go down the inside when normally on a stretch of road like that the car being overtaken will move offline to the inside. Mika on MS.

In the past I prefer the Mika move over MS during Spa 2000.
For this year, It was amazing the move what JPM made over Ralf and Kimi in the last Canadian GP. |

Yeah, Mika's move on Schu at Spa was sensational. Of that lot, it wins by a long shot.
Also like to mention one you forgot mr v. Rubens on DC at Hockenheim last year. Around the outside of the fast right hander that heads into the stadium. Brilliant. And what about Bernoldi on Schu at Sepang? |

Mika on TGF at Spa 2000 was sensational, particularly when you consider Zonta was involved in it as well. That was a great drive by Mika, considering he came back from spinning in the first place.

Overtaking in F1, the FIA would go mad if such a thing was suggested or performed, these are not cars racing they are bill boards for you to see for 1.5 hours.... form a nice queue please gentleman.
Guy You need to back to the late 80's and early 90's for this sort of thing. |

I think that JPM on TGF at Brazil 2001 was the best , but
also can i say that Takuma Sato's overtaking move on Mika Salo at Monaco going down into Mirabeau was brilliant.... as no one overtakes at Monaco.....sorry , i just had to get that one in there !!!.. |

I think it's pretty sad that we can narrow down the great overtaking manouvers from the past three years into a very compact list. There are many series where you'd have more than that in a single race!
Or maybe it's more sad that there are only 5 drivers that made passes that were considered good in the last 3 years... I don't know. |

thats a really good point Jay .
times are hard when we have to get excited about something that happens often in other series . I hadnt noticed that until you said it . |

JPM is "THE" man when "overtaking" comes to mind !, since 2001.
These were great too: JPM on MS, Silverstone 2001 JPM on RS, Spa 2001 But I vote for "JPM on MS, Interlagos 2001", this was the first time JPM showed he´s a real racer and not only a driver... |

I voted for Mika on Michael at Spa - Brilliant
However, Monty on MS in Brazil is the most significant move in the last 3 years. It was the first time Monty Raised his sword to Michael and the last time Michael left the door open like that with Monty behind him. |

I've voted for the overtake of Juan Pablo on Jarno at the San Marino GP 2001, though also the overtake of Brazil 2001 and Indy 2001 is good
