Wirdheim's father speaks about the test
Here is a freely translated message from Björn Wirdheim's father, Örnulf, concerning the latest test with Jaguar and the questionmarks about who was quickest of the Jaguar drivers:
"To kill all eventual speculations on which times are correct from Björn's Jaguar test I want to briefly inform you that Björn was quicker than Webber both during the first and second session according to Jaguar's own time keeping. Björn sat his quickest time when it was only two minutes left of the second session of the day and all of the teams probably didn't register that. Autosport's time of 1:11.802 seems to be the time that Björn made with his next to last set of tyres and that time was set already at four o'clock, more than one hour earlier on the day and was according to my own clock 1:11.72. The time Björn made on his very last set of tyres two minutes before the end of the test day was better but I never got the time confirmed from the team and can therefore not confirm nor deny that time. Björn drove during the whole day with 60 kilos of fuel and got to use five sets of new tyres. The R5 is a quicker car basically and Mark (Webber) drove during the end of the day on new tyres and almost an empty fuel tank on a flying lap that he according to an earlier strategy aborted just before the finish line to make an evaluation of the qualifying potential of the car. One could after that lap find out from the computer log that it would been a high 9 lap or in other words just a little bit slower than what BMW and Ferrari has produced as best at Valencia."
