V8 Look-a-likes?
Has anybody got any V8 driver look-a-likes?
Personally, I think Giddy Goanna (kids safety character on TV ads and in magazines) looks alot like Peter Brock! Any others, guys? |

Yeah, a truck load.
Do the NZ touring cars count? www.queenslandraceway.com.au - the Race Experience has mock up V8s that people drive, I've had a few rides in them, and they are actually pretty good. There are a lot more around, I know a local FFord guy has an identical mock up of the 00 car from Bathurst last year in ute form. |

I've seen the HRT display car from 1997 out and about. Either that or a fantastic copy.

The V8 Experience have hotted up XR8 engines, have a full cage, full suspension, exhaust, probably a bit better speced than a GTP car. Yeah, it has two race seats
NZ have V8 touring cars, but they are more a Future Tourer spec, with a full body kit. Any NZers out there care to explain. Also, VIP Petfoods have a whole fleet of Falcons mocked up in Cameron McLean colours, all of the sales reps etc have them. |

I saw it 3 weeks ago on the highway at Boambee and it has the words "Lowndes" and "Crompton" missing from the windows It doesnt have green headlights though. A few years ago my relatives were living at Shailer Park in Brisbanes Southern Suburbs ( Sort of near Dicks Daisy Hill), we were visiting and my relos neighbours invited everyone over for a barbecue the only way into the back yard was through the garage. Sitting in the garage was a road registered xe falcon in greenstuf colurs it was beautiful. By the time Id finished cuddling it and drooling over it the Food was cold but hey I was happy. There is a guy that Lives near our Ascot Residence somewhere who has a BA XR 6 in the new FPV / Cat colours he often goes past us on Nudgee road heading towards the airport. |

I remember last year about a week before Bathurst I saw a Commodore done up in the full current Castrol livery with bodykit in South Penrith. I figured it might have been one of those promo cars they park next to merchandising tents.

The nz cars are just a cheap version of the aussy ones. they have around 380hp, brakes are **** still have standard peddle box and standard rear brakes, 4 speed richmond syncro box, 5 stud wheels and lock diff. Most of the parts are controlled items. There are over 30 cars at most rounds. about 5 secs slower over 1 minute compared to the supercars. Good racing.

I wak talking about V8 Car look a likes with a mate today and he reminded me of a bloke here back in the 80's ( the guy is now dead as a result of writing off the car) who had a 1984 VK Brock Perkins Replica, but he had hand painted on the signage with a House paint brush. The actual base dayglo paint job looked smick. Didnt look too good on the back of the tow truck after the prang in 85 though.

At Bathurst in 1997, there was an old Kingswood done up in a really rough Castrol Perkins paint job. On the windscreen was a sign: For Sale - $200 or 3 cartons of VB.!!!!!

Wow, there sees to be quite a few running around. Too bad no one has any pictures yet. The most exotic lookalike I have seen is a Honda/Acura Integra done up in the HKS black/green tiger striped HKS colours.
