Next Round: Vip Mainevent
Just reading the supp regs for this meeting and have come across this:
"2.3 QUALIFYING Qualifying for this meeting will be conducted by a Shootout for the entire field. 2.4 ENTIRE FIELD SHOOTOUT 2.4.1 The Shootout will be regarded as a qualifying session for all drivers. 2.4.2 The Shootout will determine all places on the starting grid for Race 1. 2.4.3 The starting order for the Shootout will be randomly drawn. 2.4.4 Each Car will be released on one warm-up lap from Pit Lane... etc etc" An entire field shootout drawn at random.. should be interesting. First shootout for a number of drivers, more noticeably, David Thexton. |

Then Thexton gets pole... till the usual whinge, moan and bleat crowd beat up on poor defenceless Race Control types and the phases of the moon are used to determine a grid...
To draw the runners randomly is interesting. Naive but interesting. But watching 33 cars run at 2.5 minute intervals could be curious, especially if they stop after every 5 cars for a commercial interruption... Eastern Creek is susceptible to track temperature variations affecting tyre grip, its one of the worst for this, a time set in the morning likely cant be repeated at the middle of the day, yet can in the afternoon.... Weird joint... |

And put this into perspective..
If Murphy wins both races and receives max 192 points ambrose must finish 5th or higher in both races. If Skaife wins bothe races and receives the max 192 points ambrose must finish 12th or higher in both races. There are many more equations but these are the two that Marcos need worry about... |

Do they have to be bartman. I thought we might actually see an improved coverage.

A full grid shootout - what a complete waste of an hour and a half or so.

Why not just draw the grid at random like they did for the Dash for Cash? I think after watching F1's all year we can safely determine that a full grid shootout is boring... top ten is quite exciting though...
At least AVESCO are trying different things though I suppose... Is anyone else here going? |

How about neither skaife, ambrose nor murf win, and someone different wins, lets see how entertaining it will be listening to the commentators number crunch with ambrose/skaife/murf et al running around in say, 4, 6 and 8th. I'd prefer that then to see one of them up the front.
At least they're not doind something as pathetic as a reverse grid for race two like the old days... |

How about a reverse grid race determined on championship points and a top ten final 30 lapper for the top ten in the championship.
Come to think of it why not 5 races where the top 3 go on to the final 30 lapper????????? |

Both being 200km races I assume that they will need to refil the fuel at some point.

I believe the range on a full tank is about 200km.
