Darwin must be popular

Now just in case you were wondering how popular the Darwin round is, I have just spent most of the morning trying to find accommodation there for 6 blokes over race weekend next June/July.

It seems the place is just about booked solid!!!!

Seven months in advance!!!!

Any suggestions??

Just go to the Pubs and dont sleep for the week!!

The current issue of Ralph has a look at the Northern Watering holes, or you could join the Aust Defence Force and hope for a posting North, all three forces have large ammounts of people in the area!

Try the backpackers, if you can handle a little noise and biff and barge then you'll be right. Plus, the $ you save on accommodation can be used at the wealth of bars and pubs on the same street. There is a fairly new backpackers on Mitchell Street which is decent and clean and with that many blokes you could book a full room of their own with ensuite bathroom so no need to share facilities.

Hope you score something! I was there this year for the first time and it was great!

I know someone that has just that , her other half has been posted to Darwin and she said Hidden Valley was fantastic , now if she can just get him transfered to follow the series around she would be very happy

You could always join the "Long grassers", we have plenty of them at that time of year.

Try booking thru your local motoring organization (NRMA for you - RACQ is excellent) there are many other types of accomodation available - good resorts within 60 minutes to the track (Batchelor resort - Lake Bennett - Adelaide river) these all have excellent facilities and are an easy drive to the track .

It really depends on what you are looking for and for how many. I know last year the casino had roos available pretty well right up to the weekend.

If you are only looking at the race weekend then I don't suggest staying outside Darwin.

How many are you looking looking to accommodate?

Well three cheers for Anna at Northern Gateway Holidays in Darwin!!!!!!!!!

A 3 bedroom apartment near the city for $265/night.

And enough left in the budget for a hired Tarago for 5 days!

Now how do you get to the Vic Hotel again?
