OK. So you don't want to share your Shining Moment. (Personally I haven't had mine yet). Don't worry we'll bombard you with more questions. How about this.

This is really aimed at multi-class races.

Would you enter a race just for the fun of it? I.e. If you were racing against Jaguar XJS's, Capris etc. Would you still enter a mini Cooper knowing it could never get an outright win.

It would feel very special to go out and take a win against superior machinery.

I compete in multi class racing and i have never been in a car capable of winning outright, but I have won my class many times and being competeitive in your class is a lot of fun, but i don't think that success in motorsport is a prerequisite for enjoyment. I always say the winner might enjoy the race a little more than the backmakers but the backmarkers are having ten times the fun of the blokes on the fence watching the race. Just driving a car at ridiculous speed with gay abandon in very close company with like minded folk is enjoyment enough for me.

ditto what David said.

Even in one class races, there were the "haves" and "have-nots" in terms of latest equipment, budget, etc.

In my brief but mediocre career in FF, I was rarely competing for a win, but that didnt stop us from enjoying the competition.

On occasion (wet track) when we did run with the big dogs, that was just icing on the cake.

I envy those whose shining moment is yet to come.(because it means your'll still racing) When it happens, let us know.

i was racing my kart on saturday, which wasn't handling at it's best and i was overtaken by another competitor but it took him two laps of side by side, nip and tuck racing to finally get ahead of me. After we took the checkered we got out of our karts smiled and shook hands. I had the BEST time!
