How can 10 get such a simple thing wrong?
Just catching up on tapes from the weekends Gold Coast event - immediately prior to the Inside Line with Greg Murphy, they show the track and up pops a graphic with voice over:
'And Craig Lowndes set the lap record two years ago' and show Lowndes name together with the lap record he set in 2000. All the while ignoring the fact that Marcus Ambrose broke the record at the Gold Coast last year on the Saturday (Race 2). Nice one ten - ignore the real lap record holders.... |

Poor research, gee that's unusual from a commercial network. Goodness me, next thing you know, we'll hear that the 6:30 current affairs programmes are possibly misleading or inaccurate.

Now now - don't get sarcastic...
Considering the information is available to them on line fro mthe U-Beaut AVESCO timing system (and I happen to know it was up to date and correct).... But yes - poor research - yet again... |

No missed that - I was skimming through just about everything as it seemed to be as boring as hell.
Tobe honest - not even going to bother with the remainder of the V8 race... |

Saturday's telecast was a total waste of time now that Channel 10 don't handle PROCAR events.
It took a six hour telecast to show a 1 hour V8 race. |

I like how they could not work out how skaife got a penalty when it clearly showed the coverage of him going over the curb with all 4 wheels to pass John Bowe.

i thought it was fairly poor as well , I mean they had all weekend and all we saw were Cart and V8's , some highlights of the support stuff would have been good but I guess they were not allowed , but it sure made for some boring TV

I loved these two comments that were 15 minutes apart during the Sunday Indy race.
"Don't worry, we will be sticking with this race until the end" 15 minutes later.... "We will bring you the results of todays race on sports tonight" The most honest thing said during the race (and could have been said many times this year....... "Well folks, we are just as confused as you are" |

Yes I noticed these comments.
I was at Wakefield while the race was actually running and heard them state quite emphatically they would be staying with the race until the very end. Didn't find out until I watched the tape (and fell asleep during it 2 or 3 times) that they sudden;y - without any prior warning - simply cut it off and went to the news. But this is typical of TEN lately... |

There's no argument about poor research, but you're a hard marker Race Time in complaining about Ten not showing the race (procession?) end. They did extend the telecast 90 minutes beyond the scheduled finishing time. I actually think that is pretty impressive.

No I'm not - if they had been saying all along this is what they were going to do ie cut it off suddenly (as they did) then maybe I am a 'hard marker' - but all through the telecast they were saying they were going to stay with it right until the end.
Personally, I couldn't give a rats if they had cut the telecast on the V8 warm up lap- the racing this year was IMHO akin to watching grass grow - and the telecast could be likened to shovelling bags of garden fertilizer. Regardless - the assumption was made that this is what the organisers were going to do - seeing as this forum has lately been about what 'might have happened' - what would have happened if, for some reason, CART officials decided (and the weather obliged) that the track was drying and they had pulled the safety car back in and let them go racing for the remainder of the time allowed? Would I then be labelled a 'hard marker' if that scenario had played out? Somehow I don't think so. Last edited by RaceTime; 1 Nov 2002 at 00:09. |

Ten have dropped the ball in the last year they have just gone down hill with no coverage of the middle guys and some of the comments have been so wrong and alot of them are just ****.

I was out last saturday in the day, out most of the night then the race was sunday, but i taped saturday's telecast and finally got a proper look at it today.
What was the deal with showing the warm-ups for both classes? And the feature stories, it was the same deal as Bathurst, the stories on saturday were repeated on the sunday. Wasn't much to the saturday telecast. While it was good of 10 to keep the telecast of the 'race' going over time, if they had said from the start that they would miss the finish then fair enough, but to continually say we would see the finish and then cut it off with 2 laps to go. Hey, they are making Bathurst appealing to generation X, "Dude, Conrod is Rad, man..."
