Goodwood's Festival this year.

Just worked 3 days at this year's festival, some 5 years after I attended the first couple. Boy, has it moved on. That is a SERIOUS big show. Any one else enjoy it?

It was ok, tis nice to see so many cars, tis a shame that there are so few of them that are timed...too many demo races.

I went on the Friday and it was a little busy then...dread to think what it was like on they sat/sun!

While it's still fresh in our minds can anybody suggest the best way in and out of the place?

Coming from London (well Croydon)

On Friday I took the A285 and got in to Car Park M (Gate 8) easily but took an hour to get out, but this may have been compounded by the rain.

Saturday I took the A285 again and it took me an hour to get in to the same car park. I parked right near the gate at the top, slightly illegally. I got out easily and turned right for the A29 and was away in about 10 minutes.

Sunday i took the A 29 / A27 and it took about 10 minutes of queuing to end up in the bottom car park, Car Park A, with a bit of a walk across the golf course. Coming out seemed easy about 10 minutes, but i have to admit that peoples leaving time was more staggered as a lot had already left, but a lot of cars weres till there.

So what do you recommend as the best way in and out.

helicoptor is probably the easiest, if a little costly

I've only been once, we got there at 7am and left at 3pm to miss it all !

the cheaper alternative is an old Lambretta scooter, we take them to the revival, zip past everything and Park by the front door !

ebay have a ton of them for sale - original ones are thick end of a grand moern replicas a good deal less - I thought about getting one as a pitbike but got a go ped instead - it broke virtually immediately and I am now bidding for something inbetween on ebay!

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole three days despite the somewhat inclement weather on Friday and the cancellation of the air displays on Saturday due to the low cloud base. As always, Lord March puts on a fantastic show which seems to get better with each passing year. I was lucky/unlucky depending on which side of the drivers seat you are to have met John Surtees who had a rare excursion into the straw bales at my post, on the way to the startline. He is still an incredibly nice man and it was a shame we met under such circumstances.

I have a fully restored 1960 Lambretta TV175 SII paintes sky blue, and have recently got all the decals made up to match the race car so we can use it as a pit bike in colours and its period kit to boot !

Yes, one or two unfortunates again this year. We were tickled to see the Zonda chap come to grief on Sunday; not a Lot of damage, but he never made it back to the paddock ... !
