Good news for Silverstone-all we need now is Peugot to join them!

As Murphy published this morning (and they have since announced in Europe), that's correct....No Sebring, but Spa, LM, PLM. (He didn't seem to know that PLM would be connected to the other two races, but that's all good.)
The Bear says Audi plans to test at Sebring in the week following the race in March. |

Struck that to enter the Intercontinental Cup Audi will have to have entered 5 LMS style races, excluding Le Mans.
Does this leave the door open for other entries, is this a mistranslation (I'm basing this off the DSC report), or is Audi being given a waiver on this? Sad to see this basically means no Sebring, which is in no way good news. If you're looking at classic races for an intercontinental challenge then Sebring would make sense - and being controversial, just for the start - why not run the 2010 season into Sebring 2011? |

Petit could get a lot of European entries then if it's part of this Intercontinental Cup. Looks like I've made up my mind as to which endurance race I'll attend next year!

Same, think I'll need to start the planning earlier and make sure to block off that week for 2010. Was so close to PLM this year but have to make it in 2010.

DSC are reporting that Le Mans does not count toward the 5 races required to for the IC, so maybe Sebring could be on the cards after all?

Hmm. Then perhaps another race, or a waiver?

i'll call it now... 2010 12 hrs of Sebring will have the first non-german brand car to win since 98. or can Greg and Klaus can keep the streak alive? |

I wouldn't call it impossible. If there are no additional european entries the Drayson Lola is the only P1 capable of winning. If they have a problem...who knows...

Well can't say this is exciting news, I'm having a hard time getting excited for the upcoming season here in the ALMS and this doesn't help. At the very least Audi seems intent on sticking with their commitment to sports car racing so hopefully for 2011 and on we will see more of the brand that got me into the ALMS in the first place.
Which year/race was this again? |

Very disappointing that they will even skip Sebring now... guess that means Peugeot has basicly won that already.

Wow, what a shame that they aren't defending Sebring. Hope then in 2010 the LMP's are closer or someone else can take Peugoet on. I'd love Audi to race Sebring then take it to Puegoet at the 8h Paul Ricard in April.

Did they categorically say no to Sebring or did they just not make an announcement - maybe they are hoping IMSA will give them a Waiver for that race alone?

Would the Laguna Seca 6 hours be too early for the new R15 Plus?

I'd hope not considering they want to run the Spa 1000km ealier in the month, which probalbly means they won't compete in it (The 6h Laguna).
In addition to Spa though, don't they have to run 4 more Le Mans style races, or so the 3 in the intercontenential trophy count as 3? So they'd just need one race besides Spa. Comeon though, go to damn Sebring, it'll help loads more than if they are considering the LMS Paul Ricard tests. 8h Paul Ricard would be another good test, 8h and Puegoet should be there. |
