World Rally Championship 3

...should be avalible tomorrow, if you know where to look!

Promises better handling, longer stages, 2003 stats, etc etc. Received a couple of favourable reviews already. Anyone planning on getting it (PS2)? I'll post my first impressions tomorrow.

I dunno but longer stages sounds pretty interesting.

McRae was fine for me, although it was amongst a bunch of other games I traded in when I bought an Xbox a couple of weeks ago.

hmm, going off WRC2 it isn't likely to be as good as Colin McRae Rally 4. But there's no shame in that, plus it has all the 2003 teams and crews....the Marlboro liveried 206, the Skoda Fabia, the facelifted Impreza and the new Focus. Plus the Rally Turkey to enjoy and the Citroen 'superteam' to take on! Basically, I'm long since sold anyway, the acid test will be whether it appeals to more casual rally supporters like McRae does. Can't wait to find out.

just WRC cars again I think. The Junior WRC would be nice.

You get the bonus cars by winning the World Rally Championship on expert I think.....or maybe winning individual events? I can't remember now.

You get the bonus cars on WRC2 by finishing on the podium in championship mode on Expert difficulty. I finished 3rd in a rally and got the extreme Peugeot as a reward.

I suppose it was pretty stupid of me to go out and buy WRC2 just about a month ago when WRC3 was on the way, but hey! I love WRC2 as it is, it's a big improvement on the original, so if WRC3's even better than it I don't think anyone should have anything to worry about.

Well, a couple of days solid play on (there was a reason why I haven't been online for days, anyone care to guess?!) and my opinion of it has kinda gone down, then crept up again. Went through the fecking professional championship to unlock all stages and expert level, won 10/14 event in my Skoda Fabia. Often winning every single stage. Why the hell do they make you play through before unlocking expert, my Grandma could win on professional...

Got that done, impressions are that it's been watered down a bit, to be honest. The set up options are extremely limited and the car is magically repaired between legs of the rally. Also too easy, at least on prefessional. Visuals are amazingly detailed, car models generally good but the red cars seems a bit bright somehow...handling is similar to WRC2 but a bit looser, a bit more controllable but still satisfying realistic, the sticky tarmac/magnetic wall glitches are thankfully gone.

Visually there's a bit of tearing on the track surface but nothing remotely worrying, but it's clearly pushing the PS2 bloody hard. Plays nicely, the big change are the stages.

they're alive! WRC had monotonous course design, no scenery to speak of, WRC2 was only a little bit better, this time there are elevation changes, landmarks, you go through villages, quarries, wind farms, past lakes and the like, moving vehicles, waving spectators, the lot. The overally feel is slightly less real-world than it was but I guess that's the way console games are going.

Still, highly reccommended.

Right, irritation time....

the expert championship is pretty well impossible without an 'evolution' car. To get a high evolution car you need to complete a hell of a lot of mileage in each individual car.....so it's going to take hours and hours of work to get a full garage of race ready cars for experet mode.

Having gone through WRC and WRC2 no way am I doing this, I want to race now.

Im interested in this one, but a few questions.

Is it better than WRC2 or not?
Sounds easy, I want something challenging, im done with colin mcrae 3 is the expert championship gonna challenge me without irritating me?
Is it more difficult than CMCRAE 3?

C R Box should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Got WRC 3 for Xmas after already having the original WRC. I am realy disappointed that you can't seem to adjust the steering sensitivity.
I won rallies on the original game at will. With this all I'm currently doing is zig-zagging down the road, waiting to hit something hard.
Anyone else have the same issue?

My money was burning a hole in my pocket so i decided to gamble and buy it.

Yes i agree the steering is quite sensitive compared to Cmrae standards. But this difficulty i feel just adds depth to the game.

I love it! My 3 favorite rallies are Sweden, New Zealand and Finland. I hate Acropolis and Corsica.

And after I say I hate Acropolis, I win it for the first time, and by nearly 2 minutes!

I tried a demo and didn't like it. Especially on gravel the car felt more like hovercraft than a rally car with wheels, there was no feel.
