Montoya has interesting looking odds... could be tempted! In all seriousness, I'd tip Jr to run extremely well. It's all about confidence with him and he should be well up for it now he's free of the wicked stepmother...

I think I would have to kinda favor Jr or Jeff Gordon this year in the 500.
I wonder how Denny Hamlin will fare this year now that JGR has both Tony and Kyle in their stable. |

Much as I like Jr, I'm going with a #88 (how weird to say is that) and a #99 fan so I'd really really love to see a #42 or #20 win

Some underrated (as far as the betting odds) drivers are:
Kevin Harvick 18-1 (last years winner) Mark Martin 25-1 (last years runner up by only a couple of feet) Casey Mears 30-1 (identical car to the top 3 rated drivers) Field (Any Other Driver) 30-1 (will be at least 10 drivers but could be several more. Includes Michael Waltrip who, if he's running well is a threat to win in restrictor place races.) |

Harvick looks like a good bet. Martin is just plain unlucky, can't see him win, much as I'd love to. JJ, JG and Jr may be in the same team but they're in a different league to Mears who has no chance of a win. As for Mikey... no chance. Just... no chance. He'll be lucky to make the field.
Minibloke... where are you sitting? It's gonna be great, isn't it! You know they're planning a shuttle launch on the 14th too? |

I am going to stick my neck on the line and say that the 500 will see both Tony Stewart's first ever win in the big one, and Toyota's first Cup win ever.
They will then struggle to reach the same level for the rest of the first half of the season. |

I will still go with either Jr or Jeff Gordon. The oddsmakers have it right IMO. On a personal note the Daytona testing is coming up too fast.

You are speaking with reality in mind I see muggle!
Jr. and Gordon have to be considered favourites for sure. Both will be well pumped for this season. |

I think the 24 will have a slight edge over Jr at the start of the season, but they both have a point to prove this year!
I hope the 9 has a better season than last, couldnt be much worse. Going for my second Daytona trip, Segrave stand, 50th anniversary will be awesome |

There'll be quite a contingent of us then! Maybe we should all take St George's Cross flags so we can spot each other (Actually I'll be wearing a Colombian flag ) Oldfield C for me. Not great seats but that's where my friends are gonna be so it seems rude to leave them there and sit right up high where I'd prefer
I'm hoping for a bit of an upset come the new year. Gotta see those Ganassi cars running at the front |

Good to see a few brits heading over for the 500, Greatest show on earth. We should wear 10 tenths t-shirts.
Gonna be an upset if anyone other than a Hendrick wins it Not the 48 though please! Im backing the 9 all the way, but probably not gonna happen this year |

Got balls if you bet against the top 3 Hendrick guys, they'll be extremly hard to beat.

I am a #99 fan, so I would like to see him win, cos he does backflips. No seriously, I like him for some reason. And would be nice to see Montoya go, and ofcourse, Tony Stewart in a Toyota.

I have one of the worst colds I have had in years. Going on 7 days now and still fell like ****. Cough in my chest and my head hurts , and I can't take aspirin as I am allergic to it.
I don't even think much about racing. Last edited by Hazza; 4 Jan 2008 at 04:13. |
