According to the SRO yes. Am-Driver, like they race in the GT2 European Series, often announce their programm late, if they do it at all. I wouldn't be surprised if we have between 15 and 20 cars, possibly even more than 20.

I think a 16-18 car grid looks reasonable at this point. Not sure how GT2 is to watch yet really, its low grid counts to date havent really shown it in its best light.

Hopeful a 20+ grid could make it look a lot better

Watched the first race today, and I've seen worse. It's got potential, a few more drivers around the sharper end of the pace wouldn't hurt. Certainly an improvement on last year. However there's still a heck of a gap between the quickest and slowest Am drivers - the pros are all basically what you'd expect, but dear me I'd be a bit worried about the Am quotient of the grid.

That’s always been the way for Am’s though, you’ve got sensible fast chaps like Duncan Cameron and Karim Ojjeh at the front of GT3 Am drivers and then you’ve got the less so experienced that are quite far off the pace. It’s just far more apparent when all cars are driven by Am’s and there’s only 13 of them. I’m still somewhat confused at what GT2 is meant to be - if I were an Am driver I’d just go the route of GT3 or GT4. I find it confusing that GT2 is technically “beneath” the two of them. Perhaps I’m missing something…

This is on the topic of GT2 but not necessarily in Europe. DSC had a little piece on a new GT2 project in Thai Super Series. It looks great to me, and exactly the type of fun entry that makes sportscar racing enjoyable to watch!
