I wonder if Mr Cochrane will be the subject of discussion at the next COAG meeting. He must be getting rather un popular with State governments.

I struggle to see the supposed third world pit facilities at Barbagallo raceway are any worse than the supa hype that is the Homebush race.
The cars at Homebush still had to be driven through the spectator area similar to Barbagallo but there were temp fences erected before and after the races to keep the crowd away from the traveling cars. I wonder whether V8SA have taken into account the amount of sponsorship money that comes out of WA and how happy those sponsors will be. |

Looking at the bright side of this news - at least all drivers can now come over to NZ for our enduro in the NZV8's

Familiar story and one common party.
Good on Barbagello and the WA government to sticking to its guns and not getting pushed around by V8SA. |

Will we see another backflip like how the paperclip lost and regained its race over a few of weeks
I think the OH&S problem with Wanneroo is to do with having to drive the cars thought the fairly crowded, as in people walking around shares the same road as the race cars to move around the back area of the pits when the v8s leave their garages to come down to pit lane.. VESA is just getting too smart for its own boots!!
They are fast becoming a 'noise' to governments and just may deal themselves out of favour Mike |

Any chance Howard might be 'fair dinkum' ... Like Q Raceway its about money.
The WASCC are to be believed, VESA have form. |

Interesting......I realise there has been indications for years about the need for upgrading at Wanneroo. Let me indulge you for a second......The AFL has made a massive leap forward in its' bid to become a truly "national" competition. Re investing its' own capital back into the future of the competition by the building of facilities and subsidising struggling franchises are some of the methods that have helped facilitate. Which brings me to my point of relevance to this particular thread. Ok, so it's a national championship, and Western Australia are now in danger of losing it's only round. Where has the foresight from AVESCO been to invest in WA to ensure the championships further promotion in the state? Come on V8SC, put some of your own money in, show some faith in your own product.
Finally, if there is no event at Wanneroo, I for one would love to see the Meekatharra 500. ps, this reply may agree with some of the AFL's commercial policies, but not football operational ones. Last edited by kmsport; 8 Feb 2010 at 23:43. |

There is one thing that has to be in the favour of WA fans
WA is the home state of Garth Tander (2007 V8SCS Champ. and defending Bathurst champ), he mustn't be happy at all. As it stands, they only have the opinion of VESA (aka. Our Take on Bernie Ecclestone), plus the double-strength slam from the WASCC and the WA State government. What about some views from current drivers? Plus, there are always packed houses at Barbagallo for the V8SCS, so that has to count in their favour. But, don't be surprised if there is a backlash from potential sponsors who are based in WA... |

This is more VESA/SEL crap.
At every V8 Supercar event, over 50% of the race program is support categories WHICH ALL DRIVE THROUGH PITS CROWDED WITH SPECTATORS. This happens at VESA's own promoted events. VESA argument is INVALID, unless they clear the pits for all categories. |

Does this decision mean that we will not see the V8s at the Grand Prix, where i believe they also drive through the crowd?

Blame the W.A Gov NOT VESA
If all the VESA knockers think VESA are to blame then think again, I find it hard to believe that no-one blames the W.A Government for there slack arse approach to the upgrading of Barbagallo which saw them agree to have an independent survey done at the expense of Tax payers only to now dump the whole upgrade idea.
Why should VESA have to fork out money to help fund the upgrades of a track that is then leased out to the WASCC by the W.A state government who owns the land.? Obviously the W.A Government has plently of money in its coffers otherwise how can the W.A Government justify spending hundreds of millions of dollars on an Air Race of all things. The same application can apply to the W.A Government spending money to upgrade the Barbagallo but NO they have sunk there own boat by showing that they weren't really interested in retaining the V8 race and they don't give a damn about how the fans are going to feel. VESA have worked endlessly for several years now to try and get all parties involved to come to some sort of agreement so that Barbagallo receives the upgrades, but the W.A Government obviously prefers the Air race more than the V8's yet the ridiculous thing is they could have had both with some minimal compromise. |

Has the boss down there in Nerang approved your rant? When there is something published that says the govt are not going to upgrade Wannaroo then I guess we can believe you. Otherwise it would appear you have let slip something from the glass office. |

In all articles regarding Barbagallo I have yet to read that VESA gave the WASCC a deadline of the 9th of February to respond, infact I did read a No Comment by the WASCC in one article. Oh Sizzle its ok for you and others on here to whinge, bag and knock the living crap out VESA for what they do and how they operate, but when people stand up for VESA because VESA are the ones making the decisions NOT you or me YOU lot are the first to criticise at anything VESA says or does. and I ain't the only one on here that shares this view.
