At last, some positive coverage from AutoWeek
At last some positive coverage from AutoWeek.
AutoWeek has been particularly critical of Champ Car or said nothing at all in recent months. Almost jaded, sarcastic coverage. So this positive piece on the Vegas Grand Prix is a dramatic turn around. My guess is that they would just say they report what they see. Like Robin Miller. But the tone of this article is so good it is almost like an apology. http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl.../70409003/1015 Now on to Long Beach. I get to go to this one, and I'm hoping it is as good as Las Vegas. No, better. I hope they get the refueling problems fixed so that such malfunctions aren't what determines the outcome of the race. There will also be more support races at Long Beach. But maybe the extra support at Vegas was inside the casinos. http://www.ccic-champions.ws/ccic/in...cWvEibmkEq4gCu Click on the Race Weekend/Race Weekend Schedule icon at the top of the LBGB website, link above, and you will see 5 races (plus a Drifting event). It will be a great weekend. |

Seems like quite a fair article - positive about the quality of drivers, wary of the technical teething problems of the cars but aware that there's plenty of time for those to improve, critical of parking at the Vegas track but aware of future developments, and so on. They've clearly chosen to ignore the lost talents (AJ, Servia, Ranger) but otherwise the whole thing sums it up well.

Lets hope they see Long Beach in the same positive light. Last year they did a pretty negative piece on the whole Long Beach race and even on the series because of the first lap crash took out four contenders.

Going to be a worry aswell for this week. With 17 cars lets hope everyone understands the need to get through turn 1.

I think given the financial and equipment considerations there will be far fewer accidents at Long Beach. With the exception of Dan Clarke, none of the drivers made any wild moves that resulted in accidents.

Should be better, FA grads will be familiar with the track and hopefully everyone will be more cautious, Speedy Dan included.

You know how they name corners after famous drivers? Maybe they should name a tire barrier after Dan Clarke.
