[2012], round 1, Hockenheim
Well, I thought it would be interesting. "New era" - new site - www.dtm.com (more direct links between news/drivers/teams which is rather convenient)
New tyres and refueling ban are going to bring some new strategies, as LMP2-like Hankooks are very stiff and the whole stint time drop is about 0,5 sec (comparing first and last lap). Besides, those wide tyres should lead to more overtaking in corners as I suppose because drivers are able to use different trajectories. First training session was held yesterday, and Audi got top 6. But results were rather dense and usually leaders are not going to show their 100% so early. And Andy Priaulx's car has lost its bonnet - the most notable incident. A set of digits and letters if there's any sense in them:

Yes. First time since 2000 all the drivers use the same year cars. And if I remember correct, the first year with 22 cars entered.

I saw that the lap record for DTM at Hockenheim is a 1:33 something by Di Resta. It seems then, that that time might be broken seeing this is only FP times. BMWs don't look too healthy, but it is only practice times as they all say...

And BMW strikes back in FP2. Spengler sets the best time 1.33,512 - faster than lap record. 18 cars in 1 second - it's a promising result.

The BMW have delivered respectable results so far. Sadly, Farfus still seems to have problems with his car, but he's at least in front of Susie Wolff and Rahel Frey.
But I'm impressed with Priaulx so far. Considering that he's a rookie, he gets along nicely with the field. So far, he's in the top 10. |

And only Paffett and Green are in top-10 for Mercedes. And 4 BMWs there. Only 0,4 sec between 1 and 11. Impressing.

Spengler appareantly made a major error in the first sector during his final run.
The Qualifying definitely was awesome but I'm a bit worried about the race. The drivers comments make it seem like it will be very difficult to them to actually pass other cars, some have already been calling for a DRS-like solution to improve that. Of course, all these impressions are from testing so lets hope it works out in the actual race. I wouldn't be completely surprised to see very little passing outside the pit stops though. |

I hope the very first lap is going to be clean, without any crashes. And then we'll see. Maybe some door-to-door action if cars are not too wide for the track. At least there's Spitzkehre.

Will be choosing BTCC over DTM tomorrow, but I hope Priaulx does well.

Paffett twitted that there's a rain possibility, and weather is cooller. It could change local "BoP" as Eki mentioned he liked how tyers were sliding over the hot track and Scheider, for example, said that he felt better during training when it wasn't warm.

Spengler was quickest in warmup again, to bad he messed up his qualifying run or he could have raced for the win today.

If this was F1Rejects, Ralf Schumacher gets ROTR to so far. Ruining three (!) drivers races so far...
