Hello, just wanted to give a brief introduction. I have just registered, but have been lurking around these parts since early last season. The reason I waited so long to register is that online, and offline, I tend to be a very quiet person. Don't expect a load of post's from me. I'm from the snowbound north of the US. I have been a F1 fan since I saw my first race on TV in 1972 (USGP, Jackie Stewart led every lap) My friends, mostly NASCAR fans (sigh) love to give me grief over my love of F1. I am secure in the knowlege that they would not know real racing if it snuck up and bit them on the arse. Happy to be 'officially' here, look forward to much wisdom from the wise people 'round these parts. |

Welcome to 10 Tenths Omar, feel free to post at every opportunity. This is a discussion forum, so discuss...
Also, when you get tired of Formula One, stop by at the Gravel Trap, where almost everything goes. |

Welcome, Omar, from another (Slightly less) snowbound Yank.
I can entirely sympathise with you about the NASCAR fan's cracks about F!. i live about 1 hour south of Loudan and everyone around thinks that the World revolves around "WWF Motorsport." I hope you contine to join us. I started out pretty casually a year and a half ago, I now I cannot get enough of this place. |

Hey Omar, welcome to the forum.
I used to think I don't post much either, and now I'm typing post 571. I can't get out of this place, and I like that! |

Welcome, Omar, and welcome to the Champ Car Mini-Grid too! I hope you will join the F1 grid when it is up and running. We had a lot of fun last year even if some of us didn't have much luck on the grid.
Who'd you fancy for WDC 2001? |

Current state of F1-
Well, I've never taken to the narrow track cars. They just look wrong. Also, having the state of the art racecars on grooved tires? Please! I think back to the early 90's, that was F1, Imho. Beautiful cars, cutting edge technology. It seemed like every race weekend someone had a new technology on their car. I do have issues with the modern F1 car. Champion this year, TGF most likely. My hope for this season is the emergence of a third team to contend for wins, every week. Be it Williams, Benneton, Jordan, Jaguar doesn't matter to me. I'll be interested in Mr Montoya's progress this year. It was a joy to have him in CART for those two seasons, and I will miss him. |

Welcome Omar ! You came to the right place...
You won't miss Montoya if you watch F1, unless he is at the back of the grid... |

In complete agreement with you on the Tyre issue Omar.
When these confounded grooved tyres were introduced Damon Hill said that the cars were even wandering around on the strait's at Melbourne!! I think that the new found instability that these tyres bought to the car was one of the reasons he left the sport. I find it incredible that the pinnacle of motorsport is handicapped by a governing body who cant resist messing around with the regulations and occasionally bending them to suit certain occasion's and driver's. |
