Lets Thank Eurosport!

Everyone who followed yesterday's CART race from Eurosport, lets thank them. They changed their's schedule so they started in time and followed the race until the finish - it run over 3h. Even ESPN cut the end.

E-mail address:

comheadoffice@eurosport.co.uk

PS! I wrote to them 4 letters to start in time and they did it - so sometimes your e-mails help!

It was a horrible race! With the "flood" running across the track causing the red flag (and some red faces among the organizers, I'm sure ), and then Memo's huge accident. But in the end it was good.

Yep, I agree, it was good of Eurosport to show it right to the end.

Think this was more luck than judgement.tennis that was to follow was delayed by rain. NASCAR was due to follow that at 2115.At 2315 I gave up and retired to bed.It was due to be repeated this morning but was replaced by CYCLING for some reason..

Actually it seems like it was judgement! The schedule after Sunday's program indicated that CART will start at 19.00 - and surpringly it did There wasn't tennis in the program anyway... it was all about athletics and this time they cut the end of it... Good move by Eurosport!

No there isn't... Actually there is Eurosport International and British Eurosport. The schedule seems to be pretty much the same - last year there was ONE huge difference - British Eurosport showed CART live!

Eurosport International did show tennis after the race. It was supposed to be recorded anyway, I think, so I guess they gave priority to the live event they were showing. (Which of course was a very good decision!)

Eurosport has changed their's schedule:

23:45 Eurosportnews report (NEWS)
0:00 FedEx Championship Series in Vancouver, Canada (CART)
Round 15 of the Series
1:30 Eurosportnews report (NEWS)

CART coverage will now last for 1,5h. And one big difference is it won't be LIVE coverage. So I quess we are going to see whole race from tape - many unanswered questions anyway!

This is for this weekends race only, after (apart from european races) they are back to live.

Eurosport never ever had the Live rights to this weekends race, Germany or Rockingham (was well documented on CARTS website a few months back), see www.eurosport-tv.com, or: this page (username: guest password: guest) and you can view up to three months programming schedules in advance.

CART are still holding out for Live mainstream TV for the Rockingham race, in Italy Italia 1 (Hotbird FTA) are showing both the Ger and UK races live, channel 5 are in the running for the UK airing.

Eurosport will give priority to the Live event currently runningv if it over-runs, this is why we lost the start of some races earlier this year.

It's nice to see the good old eurosport auto-responder email is still being dished out - I got the same thing last year (word for word)

I sent a mail to Guy and Jeremy at thecarguys@eurosport.com to say thanks for the sensitive way they handled Gidleys crash - I thought he was a goner there - those Indycars can take a beating cant they! Thank god for carbon fibre.... One thing I will say about Eurospurt tho is that when Jeremy and Guy are commentatin its first class but when they run highlights they have some other bloke who cant even pronounce penske and castro-neves... actually its funny to hear them mispronounced - I saw him commentatin on some F3000 highlights the other day and I was in stitches listening to him introduce new drivers who I had never heard of before.... I think they should get Jeremy, Guy and the bloke who used to do the F3000 to help with phonetics - the ALMS and ELMS highlights are also pretty funny for the mispronounciations!

Ghinzani

Have you seen Autosport today? There are two photo's of Memo's car upsidedown, the first has just a slignt hole in the tub, with a rear wing and a wheel from Scott Dixon's car flying out of shot, the next is the one that was linked to elsewhere on this forum.

So it seems the impact with the bridge just cracked the tub, it was only when Scott Dixon hit his car that the tub broke, not what we all thought...

But he'll be out this weekend - NUTTER!

BTW, the guy you're talking about is Tony Delahunty, ohhh do I have some stories about his son's one any only appearance in Formula First a few years back

Normally Martin Haven does F3000, hopefully he's back this weekend.

Thanks, that was his name, Martin Haven - yeah hes good, knows his stuff. Is that Delahunty guy Andrew Delahuntys dad then> I saw he was racing Porsches etc earlier in the season... I also remember he raced karts at one time - whats the story there then? I love a nice bit of racing gossip!
Gidley - brave man - but then racing Indycars isnt something for the weak willed! Carbon fibre aint so great in a secondary impact, guess that explains why Dixon was trailing round all beat up!

Thanks for the info

Yes, Andrew's Dad, I can't tell you what happened, I would probably get into trouble. But surfice to say he was only doing one race for experience, expected to win hands down, and was not too happy that the other drivers were racing (and beat) him.....
