Shane Bland
Marcos Mantis GTO class driver Shane Bland was injured in a huge crash at Donington Park on Sunday, has anyone heard about him since, is he alright?
I saw pictures of the crash, the Marcos was a wreck. |

It is reported in Motorsport News this week that he was suffering back and neck injuries. It sounds quite serious.

According to Totalmotorsport.com he's had a successful op on his neck and is recovering. Huge shunt though.

I've just read on another site that he had broken his neck at C5(5th cervical vertebra - just above the shoulders) but had just had a 6 hour op to rebuild it with bone grafts and metal plates. He should be discharged from hospital next week.
Hope everything goes well for him. |

The powertour website has updates on Shane under the GT section. Shane has posted a message of thanks on there. I was standing at Redgate when the accident happened it was a biggie I hope I never have to see anything like that again it shook me up but I must congratulate the marshalls and medical team they all worked really hard to keep Shane safe and get him out of the car as quickly as possible. Hopefully we will see him back next season.
