Listen mate the day you can win in almost every category you enter, aswell as holding numerous lap records around Australia, then i will accept that, Wayne has proven his talents and doesn't deserve to be bad mouthed by people who sit on here every spare minute they have and bad mouth drivers who have earnt where they have got, without financial backing. If you had say it to his face he would smile and just give you a little giggle, he is a great motor sport personality, hense why he was nominated for it in 2003, take it from someone who knows. |

Wayne Wakefield would be one of the most overrated drivers out there. Sure he can drive but then again so can a lot of other blokes.
I have raced against Wayne and every time I have I finished better. Would you like me to put aside my official duties and take this up the creek as well? |

I'll be in attendance at the creek for the aforementioned prize giving, so I'm willing to offer my professional refereeing services for the all-in-brawl between the for and against camps. The rules will be simple, everyone in at the start and just keep bludgeoning until either only one person is left alive, or you get bored... So a bit like this thread will end up, eh?

Morris you haven't answered what so called category you have beaten Wayne in, or is just you were pulling the legs of the forum members to act tough? Whilst i cannot deny the undevited support Wayne has, It is his driving, his proven skills and personality that have won him all those fans.

Wayne used to go the Improved Production Club days at Lakeside and drive just about everybody's car. He only ever did 3 or 4 laps in each car and was ALWAYS at least a second quicker than the regular driver/car owner!
I have put my entry in and sincerely hope i win. Wayne is a hell of a nice bloke and a very talented driver. If you don't like him, please don't enter the competition, more chance for me. |

How many times has WW driven a HQ? I remember one time at Lakeside in the Yates Supercheap mobile, but I can't recall too many other occurances. Bathurst?

I'm no cheerleader for WW, but he's been spectacular every time I've seen him in NSW. As for lap records, two minutes surfing found the following...
Wakefield Park - Improved Production 1.06.3989 on 30/3/2002 Eastern Creek - 1.44.16 on 29/11/98 Oran park - Club Cars Wayne Wakefield Mazda Stn Wagon 1.16.8968 30/8/98 and they were the first three track sites I visited... Give the guy some credit, he's quick in the 808 - and for wahtever reason, he's never been able to transfer that to Supercars. Call it bad luck, inexperience, a different stlye required - but I wish the guy good luck - he seems more a battler than a little rich kid who's Daddy bought the drive... |

Well, IF he's not a great driver maybe they should call it a "tepid lap with WW."

Would the story be any different if he had a rich father and he scored the HYL back in the late 90s?

Bargs has gone alright from being a Young Lion, but Mark Noske has never quite gone on to be a championship contender, and nobody doubts the amount of money Tony and Kalahari transport had/has...
Its no guarentee of success, but it seems to have helped! |

Ok Morris after research, trying to big note yourself that you've beaten Wayne, In HQ's at Lakeside yes it is true, BUT he did only one appearence back in around 96, so to big note yourself about beating a driver who only did one race is pretty stupid, it is great to see Wayne has great fans and he greatly appreciates them, his promotion team must do a great job cause he is always available for autographs, remember that at Eastern Creek.
